Tommy Bowden resigned at Clemson next up Lane Kiffin?

They were talking about it on ESPN college football live that Tommy Bowden resigned, and one name they brought up was Lane Kiffin. When you think about it this is a perfect match. Kiff most likely wants to go back and coach in college. He has the experience of being a co offensive coordinator at USC, and he learned under Pete Carroll. He has the experience of being an NFL head coach, which is a great recruiting tool. He can tell recruits, "Hey I know what it takes to get to the next level come to Clemson and you have a shot."

My guess is that if he becomes the head coach of Clemson the Tigers might be more of a pro style offense team and run the west coast. One thing we can say is that the players never quit for Kiffin while he was our HC, and it seemed like they genuinly liked kiffin.

If Clemson hires Lane Kiffin that would be the best thing for their program. ALready CJ Spiler is disgruntled that Bowden left so hiring Kiffin might calm him down.

Would be nice to have Kiff as a punching bag in the ACC for the next couple of years. Go HOKIES!!!!!!!

I don't know man I think Kiff can turn that program arround and Clemson would give VT a run for their money. I think Kiff is just more suited for the college game and the thin is they have some good players on that team. It's not like Kiffin would be taking over a broken down program. Sure they are 3-3 and they lost to WF but it's not like they are a team slaped with sanctions and NCAA violations.

I'm not much of an ACC guy but it seems to me like Clemson never recovered from Alabama punching them in the mouth. They started the season ranked in the top 10 and after that loss it just seemes like they quit on the old ball coach.

Go To Clemson Kiff. Hokies can beat you down for a while. I can see it now Clemsons number one recruit is a kicker that can attempt a 74 yard attempt

-- Clemson Courting Lane Kiffin, but... --
Thu Oct 16, 2008 --from FFMastermind.com

The Tampa Tribune reports Clemson University is courting former Oakland Raiders HC Lane Kiffin to replace the recently fired HC Tommy Bowden. There's a catch, though. But the Tigers reportedly want Lane Kiffin to be their head coach, but only if he can bring his father, Buccaneers DC Monte Kiffin with him.

Now there is an interesting twist and why would his dad leave TB to be a DC for a broken down college football program?

Probably. I think Monte wants to coach with his son before he's done. They obviously wanted to work together here in Oakland, so why wouldn't they try to get together at Clemson. I honestly believe Clemson will pursue Lane pretty heavily next year after they get rid of their interim head coach.
