hmm.......My initial reaction was we need a WR....
But we need to remember teams are built through the draft. You use FA and trades just add a couple pieces to the puzzle. I would rather get a young WR (Williams isn't that old but he is a WR in his prime looking for a championship) that can grow with Russell for the next 10+ years. (if available Michael Crabtree= beast )We are rebuilding and adding a disgruntled WR to a team with no deep playoff plans in the near future would not be the way to go imo. We need to fix this thing the right way and while pretty good a WR like Roy Williams wouldn't do that. We aren't good enough of a team to make this trade a good one on our part. Summing this post up I say pass... |

I say if we have a shot at him we shouild take it yeah he might be somewhat reluctant to want to go to Oakland but we also need someone that can make a difference now. There are still 12 games left to this season if a trade can be made before the deadline ends I don't know when that is but if it can be made it would help the whole team and maybe we can get rid of some of the dead weight there or help improve the ones that are. 1st round receivers are as hit and miss as 7th round ones not every team is gonna luck into a Brandon Marshall or a Marquess Colston but if they were both healthy I would prefer either of them to Walker. The guy doesn't seem to be contributing much or he just isn't able to get open well enough

Well we are not in any position to offer him a big money contract or trade away draft picks for that matter. We really need help at that position because what we have is pretty pathetic, to say the least. But we also need to learn how to pass block because when Kwame Harris is protecting the QB's blindside you might need to cover your eyes.

I believe Williams is a damn good receiver who is just disgusted at losing and then being phased down on the emergence of Calvin Johnson (who they want playing the major role since he is locked up for years and not in a contract year) and the reality that the Lions are not allowing him much opportunity in the final year of his rookie deal. IMO, he'll finish the year a Lion and be franchised in the offseason and traded around the draft.

Hmm interesting. Dont know if he would want to come but if we are willing to pay that could change. Adding another WR in the draft would be nice also. I think we are a playmaker or two from being decent again so It might be worth. Our offense needs to move chains.

27 is nothing to a WR who keeps himself in shape. 30 is a little closer to losing that step but that's two years away and he still has moves to seperate from coverage. He'll never come to Oakland in my mind but I'm just saying him being 27 is not one of the reasons he won't be a Raider. In fantasyland if we had a shot at Williams it would likely have been done, we signed the useless Javon Walker who has 3 years on Williams.

I live about 30 mins south of Detroit which makes me privileged to get to see all of the Lions games. Roy Williams could easily be a top WR in the league but the combo of J. Kitna and their O-line is just brutal to watch. I honestly think he doesn't try very hard, gives up alot like R. Moss did in Oakland. So no thanks.
