Kiffin to Syracuse

Quote:
(If) Kiffin is canned, the thought is he would be free to take over at Syracuse right away if the Orange decided to make a mid-season move.

Kiffin was the offensive and recruiting coordinator at USC while SU athletic director Daryl Gross was there.
News 10 Now | 24 Hour Local News | SPORTS | Rumor mill swirls around Robinson's future at SU

This is just wild speculation, and it may not even be that relevant to many Raider fans. However, I thought I'd post this article here for anyone curious to know what Kiffin might have waiting for him after the Raiders.

Also, some have expressed fears that Kiffin could be hired by a division rival. But, as others have stated, his better fit might be as a college HC. After all, he was said to have inquired about the Arkansas job last off-season, and Syracuse is not too shabby at all.

Whatever happens I wish Kiffin the best. Unless he does end up the AFC West that is.

The only team i see him ending up in would be the Chiefs if he does stay in the West.

I'd hate to see what he would do with the Chargers.

Syracuse would be a perfect college football place for Lane Kiffin to take over. They are a sleeping giant in the Big East. They haven't been good since Donovan McNabb suited up for the Orange, but I think Kiff could really do wonders for that program. Syracuse would be lucky to have a guy who got tutored under Pete Carroll, and has some NFL head coaching experience.

He can just go up to the kids and say, 'hey I know what it takes to make it to the NFL." He can build up that program because i'ts not very good rignt how. Even if Syracuse goes to a bowl game and wins 7 games that will be an improvement for them. He could easily build up that program because you can find good recruits in NY.

Kiff would be an excellent coach for Syracuse. Whevever he decides to go, perhaps offensive coordinator for another team, or be a head coach of a college team, I wish him the best of luck as an SC man myself. I think Kiffin would do wonders for Syracuse or any other number of college football teams loking to rebuild. There would be no pressure on him immediately and Kiff could be very successful in the college level. Perhpas later on down the road he can try NFL again.

Sounds like Al is setting up his alma mater with a good coach. Maybe he's brokering the deal so he won't have to pay Kiffen the remainder of his contract with OAK.
