Best D in the country

Now we are in business,

But what does this mean for Woodson, we have to have cap space. I say cut Gannon and Go for Picket in the second. We will be young at QB but we will have the best D since a long time.

On Friday, Buchanan made a big play in prolonging his career, agreeing to a five-year, $12 million deal with the Oakland Raiders to be a free safety first and cornerback if needed.

Because Oakland has only about $125,000 in available cap funds, the team must clear some salary cap room before it can officially sign Buchanan to a contract, which officials told ESPN.com would be completed next week.

It's fitting he would sign with the Raiders, who seem to relish signing long-time veterans. Buchanan hinted of his desire to play in Oakland after the Atlanta Falcons released him last month. He visited the Raiders on Friday after attending the NFL Players Association Annual Meeting in Hawaii and was ready to sign immediately.

"I wanted to find a team that has some loyalty," Buchanan said. "There is a lot of history and a lot of background with the Raiders. I was excited about it. I walked out of the building wearing a Raider hat with the shield on it. It's a great feeling."

Oakland already features a pair of top-shelf cornerbacks in "franchise" player Charles Woodson and emerging star Phillip Buchanon (no relation). Other cornerbacks on the roster include Nnamdi Asomugha, the Raiders' first-round pick in 2003, along with journeyman veterans Clarence Love and Ike Charlton.

Seems like Phillip Buchanon needs alot more work at corner and is hardly top-shelf for a corner as far as coverage goes. Seemed like he was a little confused sometimes last year. Giving too much cushion on short yardage plays and not enough on long ones. And it cost us. He just needs to play smarter because hes got the skills. His interceptions prove that. His special teams play is outstanding. With C Woodson Healthy this year he should be getting alot more balls thrown his way. Lets see if he improves.

I agree. If PBuch became a more focused "student" of the game he'd give CWood a run for his money as to who the best CB in the league is. Hell just imagine if CWood watched more tapes before each game...no one would throw the damn ball against us lol.

PBuch has to realize that every ball thrown at him is not a potential int return for a touchdown. I do like this though bringing in ray. Pretty cheap and could be really solid as a FS.

Pickett in the second round would be a major reach. He will go much lower than that. I'd still like to see him in Silver and Black though.

My opinion:

Woodson will have a good you because of the pickups the Raiders made during FA. With big bodies up front and fast LBs patrolling the backfield Woodson will have to do less tackling on outside runs and can concentrate on shutting down WRs and Zones. My concerns are the safeties: can they tackle? Will Rod Woodson be healthy? Will Ray Bucannon be able to perform at a level we need him to? Is Gibson going to start hitting people the way he did in college?

This is a joke right? PBurnt couldn't hold CWoods jock on a good day. The interceptions he has are all bad throws and because he's out of position, they are not because of his coverage skills. PBurnt can't stay focused on the game because he's to focused on himself.
