I agree. I like Favre but Russell is our future. I don't think he should come out of retirement. He is a great qb and he had a great season last year which will be hard to top this year. He is risking injury and I would hate for him to get hurt mid season and have to retire like that...or go out with an unsuccessful season. Go out while you're on top. Now is the best time for him.

IF Favre were to play again and IF he was picked up by Oakland it would mean that Russell ISN'T ready to play yet.
That wouldn't be surprising considering he came out as a Junior and only had the ONE good season in College. It would be doubly troubling considering how dummied down and run oriented the offense should be. My guess is Oakland's got their QB. |

My reaction as well. This is the same reason the Huff rumors started in STL. People with no reason to be talking started a blog and others caught wind of it...

BTW Jamarcus got $5.9572 million (by my math) last year to play 1 game. $3.7204 million (+ $19.9 million option bonus) this year. He needs to play at least 50% of the snaps this year to receive a $3 million bonus in 2010. All signs indicate he'll make that bonus if healthy.
So you guys know, here are the details of his contract: 9/10/2007: Signed a six-year, $61 million contract. The deal contains $32 million in guarantees (all six years' base salaries), with a one-time performance bonus of $2.8 million. Another $7 million is available through incentives. Russell will earn a $3 million bonus in 2010 if he takes 45% of the snaps in 2008 or 50% in 2009. 2008: $3.7204 million (+ $19.9 million option bonus), 2009: $4.46448 million, 2010: $5.20856 million, 2011: $5.95264 million, 2012: $6.69672 million, 2013: Free Agent Brett Who?
