Even more rumors....
I don't know if my friend is pulling my leg or what but he attends Ohio State University and I attend the University of California, Davis so we keep in touch.
Anyways onto the subject at hand. He says he lately has been hearing around various radio stations and sports writers that near or on draft day there indeed will be another blockbuster trade with the Oakland Raiders. This will be for the Cincinnati Bengals' Chad Johnson.
He has told me nearly all the reports are like this:
Raiders Trade:
Fabian Washington
1st Round Pick (#4 Overall)
Bengals Trade:
Chad Johnson
1st Round Pick (#9 Overall)
So take this with a grain of salt because I know I am.
But if this were to go through, I don't think I would be that upset.
Again I don't really believe that a trade is in the works for Chad but we are the Raiders so you never know.

I'd do it, there have been some other rumors, supposedly from Cincinnati radio, that had future pick(s), Fabian, and Schweigart. I hope something gets done, I like the trade down option because we keep our future picks.

Conceptually this sounds good. The questions really is if can we afford Johnson. If we were to do this, we should still be in position for an OT or maybe DT. Of course this would really make our offense exposive. The good part is that in dropping to the 9th pick overall the hit is smaller on our salary cap giving us more room for Johnson.
What I am not sure about is if Johnson has any pro-rated signing bonuses left and if so if our salray cap get hit by it. I would not think that it would hit us in that in doing a trade pro-rate signing bonus are escalated to the team team that is trading the player away. If it hit us as well that would be double dipping and does not make sense. Of course any contractual bonus that are not paid as of yet would be our responsiblity. (might be affordable)

i don't no man. if one of the longs are there i say no deal. i also don't think we need another big time wr. we have curry and walker. curry played sick last year so i don't want him moving down to a 3rd wr.i agree we need another wr but not another big name we need a slot wr.

At #9, we'd likely have a shot at
OT Ryan Clady
WR DeShaun Jackson (although we'd be pretty set at WR at this point)
DT Sedrick Ellis
RB Rashard Mendenhall
and -maybe- DE Vernon Gholston, although I doubt it.
Some good options here... Ellis and Clady being higher on my list than others. I guess we could also trade down/up from there too.
Hmmm...

I hope the johnson rumors are just that. With Chad/Walker ther are not going to be enough balls and a rookie starting QB doesnt need that headache. If we were set on the O-line it would be a help but with ? at T and C its just a headache we cant afford IMO.I dont know how we could pay him anyways.

Anything is possible. Probably wishful thinking. Not sure we could afford Chad at this point.

Sounds good to me. Chad in the Silver and Black would be amazing. I wouldn't put it past Al. Maybe he's trying to redeem himself after the Moss trade went downhill after only a year? He might have something to prove, showing that he can keep big names satisfied, etc.

If we can afford johnson then I think we do it. We don't need anyone for the pricetag the 4th pick will cost us.
