Trade him, this is a business, and he'll make too much after next year. We have Hall and can draft a replacement for Aso.

It really doesn't make sense for the Patriots to pick up Asomugha when he would be asking for the same money that Asante Samuels wanted.
That sounds like the grass may be greener scenario. Crazy as it sounds! |

One potential scenario that I could envision would involve Asomugha being shipped to New England for DT Vince Wilfork, who has shown the ability to consistently draw and shed the double team in the 3-4 and would give the Raiders one of the most fearsome DT duos in the NFL if he were paired with Kelly in a 4-3 set.
Now that would be fukn nasty!!! Wilfork, Kelly, Burgess and (possibly) Gholston or C Long????? As much as I love Aso, If New England offered Wilfork and a decent draft pick I'd do that **** in a heartbeat. |

If New England offered us Wilfork and their first round pick for Asomugha, we would have to take it. Although Nnamdi is a fan favourite, if we can get a hell of alot for him, then let's trade him. When you think of it, we don't REALLY need a good CB combination. DeAngelo Hall and Fabian Washington would be good enough for me, but if we traded Aso, with NE first round pick in it, we could still draft a very good young CB like Leodis McKelvin, who could replace Aso.

I think some of us on this board love Asomugha so much, they wouldn't even accept Tom Brady and 5 first round draft picks for him. The realization is that we could get a lot for Asomugha. Just to clear it up, I want Aso to stay, but if he didn't re-sign, we could get a bit for him. Remember we can still draft a replacement for him. If we traded Aso to the Pats for a first round pick and Vince Wilfork we could still draft Leodis McKelvin to replace him. I think Asomugha is a bit too close to some peoples hearts.

I can see this trade never happening....I dont think the Patriots want to give up Wilfork

Max Iascone is a 15 year old high school student who lives in Massachusetts, He first came to this site in search of a reliable NFL reference. He quickly soured on blowhards like Mel Kiper, Jim Rome, and the late Sean Salisbury (He isn't dead but his career is). He has had a passion for sports and journalism since he was 7 and although he has been an ardent supporter of Boston sports teams since age 6, he takes pride in being a well rounded sports fan (screw hockey)and will discuss any team in any sport.(not hockey)He dreams of one day being a sports writer but he is inexperienced and consequently is not exactly great at it. And for those who want to know, that's a picture of Robert Loggia.
