Just because its been quiet doesnt mean things have smoothed over.I have no proof or links just my feeling.bridges have been burned and its just a matter of how much he is getting paid IMO

Lofton would be the logical bet, being that he has twice interviewed for the job..

I'd rule out Ryan just because he's a defensive coach..

I think back to the Kiffin press conference though when big Al stressed the importance in todays NFL of a Head Coach who calls his own plays,

and I don't have any reason to believe that Lofton is qualified to do that.. Could be why the Raiders were rumored to have a strong interest

in Al Saunders.. I look for Knapp to have an expanded role if all this plays out like I think it will..

I believe they are both on two year contracts, so they'll be here at least for 2008.. I'd love to see Cable locked up at least through 2010..

4 to 6 more weeks to figure out the buyout? Seriously? How much can they be off, I mean it what 2 million a year for 2 years, right? Kiffin wants it all and Al will give what? I mean think about it, how can it possibly take 4 weeks or more? If this truly happens and it takes this long we are totally screwed in my opinion. Lofton...please, twice past over for the job and fired from San Diego, no head coaching, offensive coordinating experience. I pray that
this doesn't happen.

Fantastic! I was getting tired of the Chad Johnson talk and needed a "pick me up" thread. Nothing like a Kiffin vs. Al part redeux. Hell, there's been more banter with them, than Rocky sequels.

What is an offseason without your patented Raider press conference sounding the horn of commitment to excellence, 3 Lombardi trophies, and being the only AFC West Team to reach the Superbowl this decade!

The amusing part, is that Kiffin will go out quietly thru the back door, with a press conference called on a sports Sunday announcing the new coach.

You gotta love it. Go Raiders!
