Adam Schecter: Justin Smith Will Hit FA Market

Schecter just reported that given the Bengals franchised Justin Smith last year, and that his sacks are down (2 so far), they will likely not tag him again and will let him test the market. He could help us a lot and we will have over $30 million in cap space after roster cuts, I sure hope we could convince him to come out west.

well, it is a possibility. Something tells me that davis is going to spend some serious money this off season in free agency.

Sign Smith, trade Burgess for a 1st rounder, Draft C. Long or Gholston and the best WR available. Get younger and much better on the DL.

Or sign Smith, trade Fabs and our 2nd to get up in the middle of the 1st and pick Malcolm Jenkins or best DB or S available and Sam Baker/best T available.

Why trade burgess? Burgess and smith>>>> Smith and C.long, proven players over unproven, and who would give a 1st for burgess after his injuries this last season

I dunno...

Two DE like that on one team, on a DL that has issues already stuffing the run and both are guys that love to get upfield...

Then we'll have two guys coming off sub par seasons...

And Yes, I know. Maybe one can help the other in terms of being book ends and being able to feed off the attention the other may face...

But I don't know.

I would LOVE Jared Allen -- but that is a LONGSHOT!
Dansby and Suggs are intriguing, but we arent going to go to a 3/4 likely so Suggs may get lost in the shuffle.

You answered the first part of your question with the second part, because we would get younger, healthier and more well rounded. Burgess is a pass rusher and we can't stop the run. But it's just speculation anyway, you're probably right about the pick, unless they use another pick to get a first, but teams don't like giving up their first rounders.

I have a feeling our D scheme may change next season. Maybe not to 3-4 but it will change.

^^ the raiders would have to have a top 3 pick..the chances the Dolphins,Rams,Jets..pass on Chris is highly unlikely..

rams biggest need is DE..Little isnt getting any younger..they need that other DE..

A defense line of

Smith,Ellis,Warren,Burgess..

not to shabby..

We need a WR first and foremost.
