Al talking to Cower?
I have a buddy who work's for the Jets front office all be it in a very low level capacity but he overheard that Davis may have already been in contact with Cower about taking over next season. Man the rumour mill just keeps on spinning. I don't know how much truth to put into it my buddy had a good track record going untill recently about such things so on a scale of 1-100 Ill rate this rumor at about 40%. Take it for what it's worth.

And while that certainly would be nice, I seriously doubt cowher would come here. Maybe if he is given full control, a GM, and a FAT paycheck

Not going to happen just because Cowher would want big money. He would be worth it but Al doesn't pay big for coachs.

well i was talking to this guy called jeff, hes an accountant but he told me he is underground NFL spy told me that The Raiders will get Steve McNair as their HC
totally convinced me he is even from Australia but he told me he has connections

Where does the Jets know that Cowher and Davis are talking perhaps?
Is it because of the rumor that Jets might be interested in hiring Rob Ryan?
Ie, because they're hypothetically serious about hiring Rob Ryan, then therefore they go off-topic for a minute discussing the Raiders per se, and someone there mentions something like...

"Yeah, it's crazy stuff at the Raiders, I know or I heard from X who knows Bill Cowher that he's been contacted by Al Davis for the HC job. Wow hey, oh well, anyway, so yeah, we should move ahead and get our people to talk to Rob's people."

So far as I can tell, we still have a head coach. And, God willing, he'll remain our head coach for the next several years.

I think that we are reading into things that are based on absolutely nothing! This board has kept my blood pressure up for the last 2 days and nothing has come from anything.. I am going to wait for something official. Lane Kiffin looked like a man on a mission in practice yesterday and that is all I need for now. The Raiders have enough problems THIS year why are we in such a rush to put ourselves through next years problems!?!

Oh yeah, because we are Raiders fans.. We always know somethings coming! haha!

guys, its totally believable that al would be talking to cower if the stuff on premium was true.

Al talking to cower in NO WAY means cower is even considering the job, but if i was an owner, and bill cower was out there, he would be my first option to get.

Bill Cowher will never in a million years, for 10 billion dollars, and an extra 500 years of life for him and his family come and work for Al Davis. NEVER. Neither will anyone else that's worth a damn either. Nobody of good reputation wants to come to Oakland and that won't change until Al Davis is completely removed from the organization.

When you get turned down by an assistant college coach and then hire HIS assistant, you know that things are bad. If the rumors are true and Kiffin is gone, I honestly don't know who, at any respectable level would take the job as head coach of the Raiders.

Al Davis ceased to be intimidating a long time ago. Now he's just a caricature and everyone knows it.
