Ryan to NYJ? Monte to Oakland?

Ran across this tidbit ...

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/fo...k.html?ref=rss

Quote:
COACH TALK: The rumor mill is churning with potential coaching changes around the league. One to watch: Longtime Bucs defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin will be a free agent, and there's speculation he may go to the Raiders to work under his son, Lane Kiffin. How would that affect the Jets? If Kiffin goes to Oakland, it presumably would free up Raiders coordinator Rob Ryan, who is extremely close to Mangini. Hmmm.

That's really bizarre.
I'm not sure how that works in some ways.
Ryan is a long-time Davis favorite due to being a 'yes-man'.
But at the same time Monte-Lane father-son thing makes sense.
But will a set in his ways DC legend like Monte and Al get on?
At the same time, someone made a good point once, that Monte runs a cover-2 and that's very close to Davis' defensive preferences.
Also, Ryan was supposedly very keen on a HC job, but missed out here.
Maybe he's frustrated? Thinks Lane's here for the long haul?
But then again, the Raiders org is very high on Ryan too.

Strange but logical at the same time.

It bears watching that's for sure. I haven't heard any talk of Monte getting college HC jobs as was speculated, so he very well may be free to join Lane. I'd love it.

Interesting. I think it would throw our defense off to change DC but Monte Kiffin is a great DC. Ryan a good DC but I would not be upset with him staying.

I honestly think Monte will not want to work with a hands on owner like Davis.

I am skeptical whether or not a father would want to work for his son.. Don't know if it would be a big deal or not, whether there would be a bit of a power struggle and Lane losing a little bit of credibility with the players?? who knows??

I don't see it as a father working for his son. If it were to happen, I would see it as both of them, working together, for Al Davis.

That's the way it is.
