Wouldn't it be funny if Kitna and Orlovsky's injuries moved Detroit to compete with Atlanta over a Raider QB?
I'd bet serious money against it, but sending McCown back to Detroit for more than we got would be a hoot. If the Raiders are willing to deal Walter, hes the likeliest simply because of their familiarity with McCown. Sorry to all the McCown backers, if he stays I hope he does well, but if we get on top of it and take advantage of 2 teams QB perils, we could benefit. |

They had their shot at him and traded him away. I don't see that happening.
I believe Walter will be going to Atlanta. I don't frankly think we'd get anything for McCown and at least he is a mobile QB with a positive attitude. Walter's temper tantrum in camp along with mediocre performance sour my opinion of him. The upside is the continued perception it wasn't his fault last year (which it wasn't entirely - but Brooks came back from his injury and played better!) and his youth and college stats which may make it easier to trade him for more. I see McCown re-signing with us as a backup next year, picking up a QB in the draft for insurance (or perhaps a cheap servicable #3) and it's all JR. |

McCown will not go to Detroit period he does not want to be there to sit on the bench behind Kitna again. He very will may be the starter game one. We will not go into the season with Culpepper, Walter and Otis lets get real.

I don't think Walter will be traded. Raiders still believe he can be a good QB and would make for an excellent backup to either Cullpepper or Russell. But Are we convinced that Daunte has won the starters job this season yet? I'm not. Tonights game may go a long way in changing my mind. But Daunte fumbling his first snap 2 games in a row is a concern. Both games he seemed to start of slow then get comfortable. That might be OK in preseason but in the regular season especially with the fragile mental state of the Raider offense from last year you get behind the 8 ball early and the team may not recover quickly. remeber teams aren't exactly going for the kill this early in the preseason but comee game 1 they will expose every mistake a team makes. The only thing I know right now is that Russell won't be the starter other than that all 3 current QB's could be behind center week 1.

as much as i hate to write this it makes more sense for both parties for a walter trade. Detroit has no qb of the future and Walter is young, Kitna is in his mid thirties. Walter could thrive in Martz's scheme and we could always resign mccown or another vet to backup russell if/when he signs.

When Al was talking about a QB that was "Elway-like", he was talking about Jeff Otis. That is why Al gave him #7. True story
