Wow..Listen to this trade (about JaMarcus)
I got a call from my cousin in Atlanta like 2 minutes ago, that said on ESPN radio down there he heard that Arthur Blank will be on this phone this week with Al Davis to see what he can do to get the rights to JaMarcus Russell. Like maybe a sign and trade. How much of that is true? I have no clue. So don't shoot the messager, Im just bring you what I heard about 2 minutes ago.

Yeah, but we could do a sign and trade after March 1st.. Sounds like typical ESPN bull**** trying to create a story though,

We could sign him and then trade him. The deal would actually get put together by the Falcons, the Raiders sign him to that deal and then trade him to the Falcons. The Falcons would then honor the deal. The big question is what would Atlanta give up to get him? With Vick pleading guilty and their backup getting hurt, they need a QB in the worst way, a franchise QB as well, because Vick has played his last NFL game. IMHO

With vick probably gone and shockley out, the falcons will be scrambling to find a decent qb. Harrington still has to prove himself so it will be interesting to see what they do to address the qb situation in Atlanta. I know we cannot trade the rights to Russell, but I am not sure about a sign and trade.

Aug 10th was the deadline to either trade his rights or sign and trade him this year.

When can sign and trade him though after the start of the 2008 league year and berore the draft (March 1st - April 26th)

A point was made in the Peter King article that I really hadnt thought about. I dont think Al will do anything that makes drafting Russell look like a mistake. Remember, he didnt want to trade Moss, because that would be an admission he was wrong. Giving up on Jruss and trading him will make Al look like a fool, and he wont do that.
