Russell trade??
This may sound ridiculous but my brother knows some people who work with raiders and they have told him that raiders may just do the unthinkable. According to them, the Raiders are looking to trade Russel for next years picks . I know this sounds absurd that's why it's in the rumor section.

Seeing that every team is given a rookie cap figure based upon the picks they had would make it impossible for anyone else to sign him. If they don't sign him he enters the draft again next year and they have given up picks for nothing.

This is oe of the worst, unfounded rumors ever...

If they had kept Booty around I would see a possibility. But with only two reliable QB's in walter and McCowen, I don't see it happening.

Hmmmm.... just read the CBA and the way it reads....

If you trade before the end of the draft, then the guy goes under the new teams rookie pool.... BUT.... if you sign, then trade, it could be argued from the verbiage that he would count agianst his ORIGIONAL teams Rookie pool....

So... looking at it... we could sign Russel, and then trade him, AND our Rookie pool would still be larger next year because of the extra picks...

Scary if I'm reading this right...

It'd be the dumbest trade in history....worse than Billy in 4C trading $25 to Lloyd Christmas for some baseball cards, a sack of marbles and a dead bird. The Raiders wouldn't get nearly as much in return for JR as they would've a few months ago if they traded the rights to the 1st overall pick instead.

This trade would only set the team back a whole year, sending a terrible message to this years squad and to the fans.
