Heard an interesting Oline Trade Rumor Reported Today!

Hey guys, don't get an opportunity to post as much as before but do scan all the time!

Today, I heard on the Radio from Lee Hacksaw Hamilton on AM 570 Los Angeles, that the Raiders are in negotiations with the NY Jets regarding All-Pro LG Pete Kendall.

Apparently he wants out of NYC because of his contract (1.7m) and wants more.

The Raiders would send either a 4th or 5th to the Jets for Kendall, and move Gallery over to RG -- who has reportedly played so well at Guard in OTA's that the staff feels he'll have a break-out season.

Thats the report. Just passing it along...

Perhaps RINY or another New Yorker can chime in with the real deal on Kendall in NYC.

L8r fellas!

This would be a good move for the O Line. Thanks for the report.

thanks for posting. Im all for bringing more bodies in to compete on that oline. Let their play determine the depth chart. Who cares about potential (Gallery). Im am looking forward to seeing Gallery lining up at Guard this year and hopefully impressing all of us.

Definately sounds good. If they make this move, with Kendall at LG, and Robert Gallery at RG, then I hope they move Cooper Carlisle to RT.

That should increase the depth on our offesive line. For a 5th I think it would be a good move. I dont know about a 4th (I'm just weighting it in my mind).
Cooper Carlisle is a guy I think is definately going to make it as a starter. So having said this, Gallery would either have to beat out Carlisle, or move Carlisle to RT. Some of the articles stated (when we signed Cooper) that he has played all of the positions in prior stints. With his experience in the scheme, he might be able to play the RT spot, fairly well for us. If this doesnt happen, I'd be extremely shocked if Gallery beat him out.
If this trade does go down, I'd like for our O-Line to look something like this...... Sims (LT)-Kendall (LG)-Grove (C)-Gallery (RG)-Carlisle (RT) The rest of the guys we have should make for some incredible depth. Would definately help out our O-line!!!!!!!

Interesting rumor. This lineup above is mind candy until we see if the rumor pans out. Interesting though....we'll see what happens.

are you comfortable with Grove at Center? I dont know. Seems like hes easily dominated at center but that may be partly due to injuries. I realize that is his position but really I dont look at him as a starting C.

Kendall has been talked about being a possible cut for weeks now here in NY. Nothing new.

He has handled his situation here in NY very, very poorly, skipping mandatory camps and so on and Mangini has avoided making any public statements agaisnt him etc. (for obvious trade reasons).

Yes, he is available. Yes, the Jets will cut him if no deals are imminent and this is the first time I have heard about him being a target in Oak. Personalyl via sources Ive never heard it, and readin' the rags here in NY, that was never an option that has been talked about.

I'll say this, he is a VERY, VERY Good player. He does deserve a lot more then what his contract is paying him, and is a stabilizing force along a OL. he is 34, which is why NY rightly doesnt want to give him a deal, especially on a team that is buildign and is young. They already have 2-very good building blocks along the OL -- so I do realize their thinking in this. Why give him a new multi-year deal at 34? But he is good and has been a good teammate throughout his career. He is looking for around $2.7-3 mill. a year for the next 2 years in a deal I believe...

Many fans here in NY are not happy with the situation because Kendall is liked for his performances. Kendall is scheduled to earn $1.7 million in base salary next season.

It doesnt matter whether WE feel comfy with Grove at C., he is clearly our C at this moment unless Newberry has a mamoth camp and Grove stays in a daze.

We have to see what he does this summer. I really dont believe that the scheme last year was fit to his speciality. I think Grove is more athletic, rather than trying to bulldoze somebody over. We'll see how he does in Tom Cable's scheme. Personally, I wasnt pleased (at all) with his performance last season. Everybody on our line seemed to struggle though. I think under Cable, and in the chop blocking system, I think Grove will do better.
If not I hope newberry does beat him out. I am willing to see Grove in Cable's system though, before really making my own decision on him. I think/hope he's in for a better season, (due to the system)!!!

Well it matters as far as improvement goes. Groves play was horrible. He is simply not strong enough to be effective there. I can see him as a backup for depth but if hes our starter, sheesh....

Lets just say hopefully things work themselves out.

Joe Andruzzi is still out there. He was a huge part of the Pats "dynasty" that started with the tuck play. Supposedly he has some sort of disease, but news reports were saying he would recover. Right now, I think we need to be looking for a guy who can fill the leadership role on the O-line. There has been no chemistry at all between our O-line in the last 4-5 years.
