Oakland expects to start Brooks

Quote:
Brooks took the majority of first-team snaps at practice Friday, according to a person
who watched practice. Shell said he won't announce his starter until game day.

Gee what a surprise, it should come to no shock to anyone that Walter's comments had a lot to do with this decision, hey Shell great Job on planning for the future now it's going to be harder to even evaluate if Walter is the future, once again great job Shell you always do the right thing(sarcasm)

frankly... I'm not sure I really care at this point. I feel rebuilding is more important than winning, but... we can still rebuild with Brooks.

Absolutely, WTF is the point in starting Brooks?

To make that big playoff push?

So after 8 games, the evaluation process is concluded and Walter failed? Or Shell plans to let him

resume his OJT next year.. It makes zero sense to me. May as well draft a QB next year.

No i'm tired of the Raiders drafting QB's and not developing them, i.e. Tui and Walter, I think Walter will be good but from the looks of things not in Oakland, he lost his job after bad performances that for the most part were not his fault, sure he made some mistakes but he's a rookie QB what do you expect, and lets not forget the comments really hurt him and cost him the job.

Oh, yeah, because I'm sure sending Walter out there for seven more games so he can duplicate his terrible numbers from his first seven starts will give all Raider fans a clear picture if he's the QB of the future or not. He can still be the QB of the future, because he's 24. but he's not the QB of the present, so calm down and be patient.

Yeah forgot the draft a bit.

You forgot one thing, a 1st QB isn't promise to be great.

I want Walter to start, but maybe i don't want him to be killed. The biggest thing i fear is Walter could be great ... but not in Oakland ... not in this system with Walsh at OC ...

I feel this thing coming you know, with shell and his ability to put blame on players and not on his OC.

Now brooks start again, well, everyone talk about his mobility but i didn't see it when he played ..

.....the majority of whom have just enough intelligence to nod repeatedly, like a drunk at a rock concert to come into this thread and start saying ".......Noooooo, it has nothing to do with Walter's comments, Brooks is getting the 'injury can't lose you your job' exception.......bla bla bla..........."

You and I know this is all about Art Shell's stupid pride, his sheer stupidity, his lack of intelligence period, his lack of motivational power........................................it is about one thing and one thing only......

FACT: Art Shell, is a tremendously proud and arrogant idiot.

It's not that big a deal. Just because Brooks gets a start does not mean Walter has "lost his job": or is not the "QB of the future". Many QB's that went on to have great careers started games on and off when they were young. Just because he sits for this game, doesn't mean we cannot evaluate him in others. Besides, what more do you want to see Walter do in this offense, with this OL?

You want to "evaluate" him ...

1. He's got an NFL arm;
2. He lacks accuracy, mobility and pocket presence,
3. He is sloppy with the snap from center,
4. He makes poor reads, if he reads at all,

Some of those things could get better by leaving him in for every snap the rest of the season. Some of those things will get worse with every snap he takes in this offense with this personel. 7 starts is enough for an "evaluation".

Walter needs a break. The team needs to try something new. If you don't think getting a win here and there means anything ... ask our defense. They are not playing their asses off just so we can keep on "evaluating" Andrew Walter.

Enough drama, it's just not that big a deal.

This sucks, I think Brooks gives us a better chance to win now, but who cares it's the difference between 2 and 5 wins. I would rather see what we have with Walter, if nothing else groom him for a back up and put yourself in the position to get Brady Quinn. I am definitely not with Art on this one.

Honest question......

How bad will we really look, if he starts Brooks, and pulls him for walter in the 1st Qtr???

i guess we will not look bad, but Art sure will.
