Or how about we compare both there first 7 starts in the NFL. To say anything but Brooks is better than Walter at this point is stupid.

Brooks
113-194
58.2%
1,515 yards passing, 170 rush
9TD's also 2 rushing
6INT's
1 fumbles lost
4-4 record. One of those wins was a playoff win over the defending superbowl champs the St. Lois Rams.
During his first seven starts He became the first NFL quarterback to have a 400-yard passing effort and a 100-yard rushing game in the same season and only the sixth player to have both in a career.

O yeah and Walter is:
104-216
48.1%
1,305 yards
3TD's
9INT's
7 fumbles lost
2-5 record in which the defence won the pittsburgh game by itself.

You can say what ever you want about how Brooks was on a playoff team but don't be acting liek Walter is good. So far even on the plays he has had time to throw he hasnt shown much at all, If anything.

You can't say anyting about Walter at this point except that he is pretty damn durable. We have a head scratcher of an OC and system, a crap O-line and are setting NFL records in letting people get to our QB. Bottom line is if you think you have seen the best Walter can play under those circumstances then you are mistaken. I fully agree that he has made bad throws, reads, etc and has a lot to learn. I am not ready to throw him under the bus yet though. Once he has played a half season with even average protection and schemes, if he is still throwing that way, then it will be time to start looking elsewhere.

If he were to have a 4000+, 20td, 10int this season, then we may have the best 1st year QB to ever play the game..right now he's the typical rookie(technically) QB..he's learning the system, he's learning the Defense, and we gotta stick with him...I hope this doesn't hurt his confidence..well, not like he can lose much more anyways....give him a few years and he'll hopefully turn into a very good QB...damn, I just wish Gannon would take some time away from the booth and sit on the sidelines with the Raiders as a coach..

Aaron Brooks starting tomorrow has taken what was left of me enjoying Raider games and thrown it away. We're out of the playoffs, but I still enjoyed watching Walter play to see if we need Brady Quinn, but I guess we have to suffer with "Smiles the Clown" Brooks. These are truly dark times.

Looks like Andrew Walter will soon join their company.
Interesting find. Funny, three of the four you listed either failed or had their talent wasted with Art at the helm.

You and I know this is all about Art Shell's stupid pride, his sheer stupidity, his lack of intelligence period, his lack of motivational power........................................it is about one thing and one thing only......

FACT: Art Shell, is a tremendously proud and arrogant idiot.
First of all, Why because someone supports Shell have to be unintelligent. Second, Walter has been playing very bad, Whether it be the system, supporting cast, inexperience, his comments, or a combination of all.

This is a team that is looking for something better, If that means putting Walter on the bench for a while then so be it.

"He is in his rookie as far as playing experience. The reason for the comparisons is that they are valid. Plenty of good, great, HOF QBs have been terrible their first season playing. No one is saying Walter will be as good as these guys, but only that if they looked that bad starting out it is completely possible that Walter will improve. You are missing the point altogether. QBs do not get ready on the bench. This only sets Walters development back."

This is not his rookie year, yes it is his first year starting but that does not buy you the rookie free pass. If it did then everyone wouldn't have been calling for Tui's head after starting one half last year. Here are a few QB's and what they did their "ROOKIE" year as you would like to call it.

Aaron Brooks
2000 New Orleans Saints 8 5 194 113 58.2 1514 7.80 53 9 6 15/94 20 4 85.7

1996 Minnesota Vikings 12 8 311 195 62.7 2258 7.26 82 17 10 15/119 27 7 89.4

2003 Carolina Panthers 16 15 449 266 59.2 3219 7.17 67 19 16 23/168 46 9 80.6
Andrew Walter
2006 Oakland Raiders 9 7 216 104 48.1 1305 6.04 51 3 9 40/218 17 1 54.6

I can see how he is really making a case to be the QB of the future. Sarcasm
But I hope he developes but right now I just think he should either spend more time on the bench or he might go down in history with the

The last Quarterback the Raiders Drafted and developed succesfully was Kenny Stabler. Think about it. Marc Wilson. Todd Marinovich. Rusty Hilger. Their best quarterbacks have been free agents. Rich Gannon. Jim Plunkett. Jeff Hostetler.

Many QB's that went on to have great careers started games on and off when they were young. Just because he sits for this game, doesn't mean we cannot evaluate him in others. Besides, what more do you want to see Walter do in this offense, with this OL?

You want to "evaluate" him ...

1. He's got an NFL arm;
2. He lacks accuracy, mobility and pocket presence,
3. He is sloppy with the snap from center,
4. He makes poor reads, if he reads at all,

Some of those things could get better by leaving him in for every snap the rest of the season. Some of those things will get worse with every snap he takes in this offense with this personel. 7 starts is enough for an "evaluation".

Walter needs a break. The team needs to try something new. If you don't think getting a win here and there means anything ... ask our defense. They are not playing their asses off just so we can keep on "evaluating" Andrew Walter.

Enough drama, it's just not that big a deal.

Good summary.
He also is not ramping up as fast as I'd hoped.
He makes reads, but he's still rook slow at it.
