Here in colorado if it is going to be broadcasted on local channels i just turn to those channels instead of watching it on the block of channels dedicated to Sunday ticket. I dont have to switch anything over, its as easy as just changing the channel. Im not sure why it works that way at the bar, now about 3 or 4 years ago in colorado direct tv didnt supply local channels, that changed shortly after and it hasnt been an issue since, maybe that change didnt happen in Hawaii.

Im just like ekgraider. Ifs its on a local channel then I just switch to that channel with the remote.
I live in the mountains of New Hampshire (inbetween them really) and I can get DirectTV no problem. Freaking monster trees all around me, snow up to my arse in the winter) and I have no problem. I also have the local channels. I just love the fact that it seems like "If I cant get it for X reason then DirectTV should provide it to everyone!" I'm sorry that you cant get the NFL network or Sunday packages but have Congress and everyone else leave MINE alone!! |

I got the HD package, and they show a list of abc, cbs, fox, ect. in hd, but i do not get them channels, so i asked for a waiver and i got a card in the mail yesterday, saying my local channels have denied my request..
so why do i pay for HD? 6 HD channels for 9.99 BS. i am really thinking about cancelling in jan. after this football package runs out.

My cable co. switched all it's lines to fiber optics and went completely digital two years ago. I get very good picture quality. I also have a cable modum and digital phone service through my cable provider. I have no desire to get Direct TV at this point.
I hope Congress does do something about this monopoly... and that's what it is, so I could get the NFL package through my cable provider.

On the HD, DIRECTV will have locals in HD for 70% of US households by the end of next year, and will offer 150 national networks in HD by that time as well.
I don't know if that will change the fact that they rarely offer Raiders games in HD on the Superfan package. |

Cable is pushing a ton of copper for its lines already and most services are maxed out for what they can carry on coax. Unless they get up on a pole and thread new lines they're talking about quality issues and a narrow format.
