Bill Soliday, of MediaNews, reports Oakland Raiders head coach Art Shell does not place the blame on offensive coordinator Tom Walsh for the team's struggles on offense so far this season. "I don't feel I have to defend anything,'' Shell said. "We're going to do what we think is best. This offense is not so much different from a lot of offenses in this league. But when you lose, people have a tendency to pick on you. That goes with the territory. But when we start winning - and we will - then the tone will change. And you'll wonder why, (since) we'll be doing a lot of the same things we've been doing." Oakland ranks last in the NFL in total offense.

Wouldnt that be something if we drop 42 points on on them. Then Walsh will be a genious. Though I dont see this happening.

I actually agree with him somewhat. The offensive line is simply inferior. Guys like Walker and Grove are not starting material..Sims is getting old, Mcquistin and Boothe are rookies and learning and Gallery has been a big disapointment. I dont think theres many coaches in this league that could win with this current group. To make matters worse the D-line isn't much better. Games are won in the trenches and we havn't had consistant offensive or defensive line play since the year we went to the SB.

I still blame the lack of execution before I blame Tom. Even though Tom could do a lot of things better, if this team could execute regularly then we would be a lot better.
