Exclamation Curry returns to practice Tuesday

Raiders | Curry returns to practice Tuesday
Tue, 22 Aug 2006 19:20:00 -0700

The San Francisco Chronicle reports Oakland Raiders WR Ronald Curry (Achilles') returned to practice Tuesday, Aug. 22. He said his appearance on the field was long overdue. "I've been ready since Day 1," said Curry, who has missed portions of the past two seasons with a torn Achilles' and has been held out of drills. The team apparently wanted to make sure he's 100 percent healthy. Head coach Art Shell said he doubted Curry would play in Friday night's preseason game, Aug. 25, against the Detroit Lions at the Coliseum. Curry said he would be ready. "I expect to play," he said.

That's great news we need Curry back but I wouldn't play him until week 1. Anyways if he plays like he did in 04 then the NFL better watch out, hopefully Porter gets on board to make our WR core that much deadlier!

Moss/Porter/Curry is what I'm hoping for but Moss/Gabriel/Curry will do nicely!

I don't want him to get in this weeks game, but expect to see big things against Seattle!

I don't know why everyone seems to "hate" Porter now. The man has talent. If the coaching staff would motivate him (as it's their job to do) and give him a little more in potential touches, then I'm sure he'd be fine. It's not like Moss has been used very well recently.

Yeah, it must be the coaches fault...

This is great news, he is ready to go and has a positive attitude, I can't wait to see him in a game he is so fun to watch.

You're talking about a paid professional! It's nobody's job to motivate him but his damn self. And building the foundation for a successful team does NOT always mean playing your most talented players. There are other factors, such as bitch-like attitudes. Porter's gotta EARN the right to get on the field. You're way off homie.

Well Porter has to do his part too. If he applies himself out there he will easily take back the #2WR spot from Gabriel. If Curry plays like he used too then Moss/Porter/Curry probably makes the most deadly WR in the league. I just hope these guys stay healthy and apply themselves out there because if they do we have a good shot at taking this division and making the playoffs!

... and moss wanting to "show up" his old team in a preseason game isn't egotistical? Getting upset because he's not getting catches is good for the team?

the thing is Seattle is the last preseason game so the starters likely won't play more than 1 or 2 series. Whereas the game this Friday the 1st unit will probably play into the 3rd quarter. If he says he's been healthy for months now, why not get him some playing time this Friday, if only for a quarter? He hasn't been practicing this entire time and Curry and Brooks need to build some chemistry before opening day. We've been cautious with him to this point. Gave him almost an entire year to heal. So i say we should see what he can do. We're going to need him this season

Great news! It is really awsome to see his agility and what not out on the field.
