Gannon: The ultimate pro

Jim Harbaugh, an offensive assistant, marvels at the way Rich Gannon goes about his job as the starting quarterback for the Oakland Raiders.

Meticulous. Well organized. Detailed. Prepared. Respected.

The words come one after another as Harbaugh, a former NFL player, talks about Gannon, the Raiders' starter and last year's Most Valuable Player who had a record-setting season with the Silver and Black.

"Great demeanor," Harbaugh said after Tuesday's training camp practice in pads at Redwood Middle School. "He's just a true professional. I've never been around anybody that is so focused and is such a pro when it comes to the mental aspects and studying the game.

"Everything he does, he's so detailed in every facet of his game."
