This autumn, the guy calling plays for the Raiders will not be getting pedicures or manicures. I learned this exclusive piece of information during a recent interview with Greg Knapp, the team's new offensive coordinator.
Last season, you may recall, now-departed head coach Hue Jackson also handled the play-calling duties but also gained fame in a magazine feature about his weekly trips to the nail salon as a relaxing way to release stress. Knapp will not follow this particular strategy.
"No," he said softly with a grin, "I won't."

There was something about that mani/pedi thing that really struck a bad chord with me...glad to see the light side of it here and to know it is in the Raiders past...and glad to see that Knapp won't be going with it. Something about physically competing/strategizing in the mixed with a feminine hygiene task that don't mix well IMHO.
I know Knapp gets a bad rap not only from Raider fans, but from fans across the bay as well. I'm optimistic though about what he can do with an explosive offense and a good veteran QB. He did pretty damn good with the Texans...he has obviously progressed.

I agree with all you're saying Smash, but let's not forget Knapp was only the QB coach in Houston and didn't call the plays. I think a lot of folks think he was the OC.
The last time he was an OC was in Seattle where he didn't do well.
Personally I'm not real high on him, and I'm glad we retained Saunders.
