I’m doing this item, this late in the day, mostly to calm my worries about the end-game motivations of Somebody Important in the Raiders organization (and there is only one important person, as we know).

Could Mr. Big Somebody have ordered that ridiculous, meaningless Janikowski 58-yard FG attempt, down by 11, simply to try to make sure the Raiders… you know… COVERED THE 9.5-point betting spread?

No. Can’t be anything that craven. Play vs. the spread when you’ve already lost? Terrible, terrible. Bad form. The NFL frowns on anything that smacks of Las Vegas influence, you know.

Kawakami is nut loving Kiffin. We get it .. you liked that he talked to you ... doesnt matter what about or the amount of truth involved ... you felt important once ... we get it.

The team sucked under Kiffin and does now ... that Mr. "I would like to own a part of the raiders, hands in the pocket, balls at home" Kawakami. Its about the Ws and the Ls and this coach and the former coach specialize so far in the Ls column.

sure glad that Kiffin is gone!
I understand the FG though, 2 possession game and a field goal + 8 will tie it. You need the score anyway and then the onsides kick. Might as well try it while you are in range. Janko coming up short is a rarity, wide I can see, but short on a 58 yarder, he obviously did not get all of it.

Sith I have to respectfully disagree. 5-15 under Kiffin was not a great record, but of those 20 games we were in 17 of them! This team has been blown out 3 times since he left - same # of blowouts he suffered in a lot less games played.
Kiffin did not have a great record with this team, but not sure if many coaches would have, and he kept the team in the game. The same can not be said any more. I know ultimately it boils down to the W-L record, but I would prefer my team staying competitive in the game and giving them a chance.
Currently we are just getting our a$$es kicked - that was not a common occurrence under Kiffin.
