I think Routt's future in a Raiders uniform depends largely on what transpires with Nnamdi's ongoing contract situation. If Nnamdi is signed to a long-term contract, then Routt will probably eventually be odd man out when his contract is up , either by FA, or he could possibly be traded a la Washington.
However, if for some reason Nnamdi isn't locked up long-term or simply just wants out of Oakland, then I think Routt would be looked upon as a suitable replacement for Aso to pair with Hall, even though it would be a significant downgrade imo. Considering Al's infatuation with shutdown CB's, especially one who is widely regarded league-wide as a top 3 CB, I have a hard time seeing him letting Nnamdi slip away, which doesn't bode well for Routt long-term, but we shall see how it all plays out.
Right now, Routt is a relatively cheap insurance policy at CB who will see action when opposing teams employ 3, 4, and 5 wide WR formations and step into a starting position in case of injury.

I met him, fifteen years ago. I was told there was nothing left. No reason, no conscience, no understanding; even the most rudimentary sense of life or death, good or evil, right or wrong. I met this......this blank, pale, emotionless face and, the blackest eyes...... the *devil's* eyes. I spent eight years trying to reach him, and then another seven trying to keep him locked up because I realized what was living behind that boy's eyes was purely and simply.....evil. - Dr. Loomis
