I think the first thing is we’ve got to fundamentally work on our tackling, which we’re going to address.

I hope he stands by his words...

I like Ryan's fire and intensity. But, for the most part, whether fair or not, his tenure has been a failure. When I hear him calling Edwards and Joseph "proven veterans", I can't help but, think Ryan is a bit too much of a "yes man", lip service type of guy.

Actually, I thought he sounded more restrained than usual. Joseph and Edwards have produced in the past when healthy so I thought he sounded realistic.

If anyone wonders why Rob Ryan's players love him so much, here is a good example of why:
Quote:
|
There’s a couple things in our scheme that we’re getting fixed, you just blame me for.. I know we could have done better. We’ve got that worked out.
|
The run defenders played terribly last year, missing tackle after tackle and being out of position on a regular basis in every game. But RR takes the blame himself instead of throwing players under the bus.
I'm sure that he's telling the truth that the scheme was flawed somehow and it will be addressed. But if he doesn't live up to his word about fixing the tackling problem the scheme won't matter.

Edwards has been serviceable and productive at times. Joseph has a lot of talent, but that has not been tapped into yet, and he himself has been lackadaisical. He has a lot to show at this level before we can say HE has "produced."
At the time the NYG got him, they needed interior linemen. And through the years, theyve brought in vets that have really 'produced', and left them thinking they didnt need him, or wanted to invest time in bringing him along, or occupying a roster spot.

Look, Ryan has been good and bad since he has been here. The body of work is not complete and there have been rough patches with good as well. But the one thing you can't say about him is that he is not accountable, does not have the finger on th epulse of the team or cannot/or doesnt have the ability to see what's going on and adjust to it. He'll try...
Whether that is good enough or not remains to be seen...
And if can't -- then he'll be gone.
