It would be STUPID to make any strategic move based on what the fans think.
Show me a coach that does, and I'll show you a coach that's not anymore. Not a big fan of JP's, I have to agree with him here. Notre Dame just lost to Navy. They're going through the worst season of their history! Yet, I just read a fan of theirs posting on one of their message boards about the difficulty of trying to get a ticket, not only for their next game, but any game! And he was an alumni. That's dedication, loyalty, and a true fan.

I am sick of it also, and I agree with the players. You can call Jerry what you want, but there has not been a time when he has been on the field that he did not play his ass off. People say he is overrated, but I don't really see how this can be stated. He has not ever had a consistent QB throwing to him. When Rich played, Porter was behind two of the best ever. Porter is really good, and some of the catches he made Sunday proved that if you can get him the ball, he can really help this team. So, why are we booing the team we all love so much? Did we not the team would struggle? The fact is, we are not the worst team in the league by far. Fargus has shown us he can get it done, and I may be mistaken, but we did not give up a sack at all, Stu got a pick and payed pretty well. These are 3 very big improvements. Sometimes are fans sound like charger fans talking about the Raiders. If you hate the team so much, and we suck so much, why are you still a fan? The destination will be better than the journey peeps, and we will get there. It's starts with motivation and booing the people who put in all out there (and I believe they do) is not helping, and If you are not helping then what the hell are you doing? You are part of the problem, you are part of the reason we stay bad, or don't pull out the close games. Are players need to have in the back of there minds that they are playing for a group of people that will love them and do everything they can to help the team win, and that even means to stick with them and motivate them, even when they are at their worst. We all know it has been many seasons of dismay, but please, don't alow our players to think it's all for not. They are feeling it as the article says, even the players that are playing well. Sorry for the long post and I am sure many will disagree with me. I just wonder how many of you can go to the games, wear the shirts, have the tattoos, etc., them bad mouth your team (while wearing the cerimonial garb). Love them - good or bad, and show it.

![]() Honestly I can see Porter's point, but most of the people (booing) at the games spend a good amount of money on season tickets. It's frustrating for me just as a fan sitting on front of the TV or computer. I can just imagine if I spend all that money on seats. Hopefully we can sneak out a couple more wins and we can move forward. But I still think we have to get JaMarcus some experience before we can move forward. |

I gotta say, porter is right...every time a QB plays poorly in one game he gets booed...i still cant believe people booed Gannon but it happened...and think about it, rookie QB's who are in camp from day one aren't ready to play until half way through the season at the least...Russell missed all of training camp and all of preseason...we cant expect him to hop in and turn the team around, hes not ready yet, and if we put him in and he has to run for his life b/c he doesn't get protection then what good will that do him...we really cant expect him to play yet, im with JP on this...i will wait for when coach Kiffin says hes ready.

great article imho
i don't agree with booing or cussing out the raiders and the players booing has become a communicative expression in the culture of losing within oakland coliseum. but i have more respect for a football player that has enough athletic ability to make it to the nfl, whether successful or not, than i do for a foul/loud mouthed fan with a beer in one hand and cheese covered nachos in the other on the other hand, i'm not into fan divisiveness either...i'd rather have a nation that is whole rather than a nation seperated i'd rather focus on what keeps us together rather than what keeps us apart Last edited by rjraider; 11-06-2007 at 04:10 AM. |

I agree with the players. It does not matter who you are, people do not like to be criticized. Yes, these players get paid million to play a game, so criticism should not effect them? Yeah right, they are still people at the end of the day.
I hate to bring back the "we could be 6-2 instead of 2-6" BS, but it is true. 4 of the 6 losses were by 3,2,4,7 points which is an average of 4 points. That is one play in each game with a different outcome. These guys are trying, these guys are giving it their best shot. Rather than bitching about the qb, the safety, the kicker, the receiver, the ref., etc., lets look at what we have. We have some solid young guys and a smart, young coach. We are not that far off being respectable again. I understand that people are pissed (and they have the right to be) but look at it from a different standpoint. All Raider players and all visiting players hear the boos and the curses from the fans. When it is free agency, do you not think that this can play a factor? If I were a player and I had the choice to go to Oakland or another team, this would certainly play a factor. Nobody likes to work in a hostile work environment. How does a team become successful in the NFL? By drafting well and adding key free agents. If we should be mad at anybody, lets be mad at the front office who have been bad on the last couple of drafts. Lets be mad at some dumb hiring decisions (Norv, Art). Lets look for improvement there before putting it all on the players. Yes, the coaches and front office do not play the game, but I think we would all agree that they get the proper pieces together to ensure success. I am not a big fan of JP, but I understand where he is coming from. Even with the last couple of seasons, I am still damn proud to be a Raiders fan and always will be. |

After reading the article I was like "way to tell'em Jerry", but I remember this is the same guy who wore the "fu" shirt all last season. I don't think there is another 2-14 team in history that has more support from their fans. I bet the raiders will once again outsell other nfl teams in apparel, so give us a win and the boo birds will stop their horrible chants.

I know where you all are coming from as far as not wanting to boo....but the last 4 years, and the 2-*insert double digit number here AFC West record is perfect and justifiable cause to boo them!! For crying out loud I have never so many half ass attempts at tacking in my life! Its is bad people! If you cannot see it then put your blinders on for another 4 years! The only way this team even snaps out of it is if Kiffin RIPS I mean RIPS these players a new A-HOLE!!! Three coaches and three outcomes all the same!?! Common...these players need to be put in the SPOTLIGHT!!!!!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH Its been 22 DAMN years since a Championship!!!! I am 25!!! I am starting to wonder if I will ever see one!!?!?!?! It drives me nuts!! :.(

Porter is a piece of **** and he should shut the **** up....
If you don't porform and are getting paid what we won't make in our lifetime, we are going to boo, so suck it up, quit being a little bitch and make some plays. Make us stop booing. Period. MUCH RESPECT TO RUN RUN AND THE NATION
