Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Tribune speculates that coach Lane Kiffin will not start JaMarcus Russell for at least a few weeks because of the poor team that surrounds him.
"You better make sure you have the right stuff around him... This is a guy who's not used to losing," Kiffin said. Kiffin wants to make sure Russell is both physically and psychologically prepared enough that he won't be frustrated by struggling in the NFL. Expect the Raiders to be patient with their rookie QB, and for him to only have value in dynasty leagues.

You know, not that Walter is anywhere near the same talent physically as Russsell... but this is exactly what I said about Walter last year. Not that he shouldn't start, but that if you expected Walter to do good and or show progress that you need to surround him with the tools to do so.
What I find interesting is that Kiffin sees those facts as it pertains to Russsell, but doesn't see it that way with Walter as he apparently has written Walter off.
Not that it matters at this point with Walter... but i still think there is something there that can maybe we can develop into a solid back up.
