Quote:
Keeping the job: Daunte Culpepper won his challenge from Josh McCown this week. He's staying as the starting quarterback of the Raiders. McCown is back from a broken big toe, a painful injury that immobilized him for more than a month. McCown moved well in practice but Culpepper will be the starter even though no official word is coming from head coach Lane Kiffin. Culpepper has completed 55 of 92 passes for 650 yards and four touchdown passes.

Injury toll: Here's how bad things are for the Dolphins. Halfback Ronnie Brown and safety Renaldo Hill became the third and fourth starters placed on the injured reserve list since the start of the season. They blew out their knees Sunday. Coming home from the game, one of Cam Cameron's kids spotted an accident and mentioned to Cam that one of the victims looked like Zach Thomas. Thomas suffered a neck injury during that accident that prevented him from making the trip to London.
That team is screwed. In the offseason, I'd so be trading for Jason Taylor if there is anyway to get him. I hope we can trim some dead money for a couple signings. With Chad Johnson and Taylor supposedly both being moved in the offseason, I'd be trying to pick up both. It's a dream world, but semi-realistic.

CJ makes under $5 million/year with about 4 years left and Taylor is worth every penny.

Put up or shut up time for Pep. Next season's contract rides on it.

Yes it is. It's on CPep to pull this one out. The Titans have a great run D and a suspect pass D. It's time to perform. This is a winnable game and we need to pull this out.

Man,I'm not sure where some of you come from? What dante does or doesn't do have nothing to do with him staying or going next year. He will be gone. And he did nothing to,"earn" a start this week. mccown is still banged up, and playing him against the titans would just put him back on the injured list. He will start next week. Bank on it.

Jason Taylor would be a score, however he is a miami boy and would probably retire if he got traded.

Team kiffen; You don't lose your starting position from injury.
Despite how bad mcdrown was playing, kiffen said he was the man prior to injury.
He will start next week.

Nothing is etched in stone from week to week. It is a fluid evaluation system that will determine who starts based on many variables including practice, performance, and health. If Culpepper plays well or McCown isn't 100% healthy, the nod more than likely would go to Culpepper to start vs. the Texans. At this point in time the only thing worth focusing on is the game vs. the Titans.

Saying Pep's performance will determine his next contract has nothing to do with whether that contract will be in Oakland. He needs to perform for his personal gain as next year's contract, regadless of who it's with, depends on it.
