"It's a rough business down there," Pro Bowl defensive end Derrick Burgess said. "Anybody can down any time. You need a guy behind the guy who's starting, that will just step in there and do what they're supposed to do."
Raiders coach Lane Kiffin called it a "low-risk" move that would make the team better if Warren is good enough to make the roster or cost nothing if he wasn't.
"It was not out of a need that we were disappointed with anybody that was playing for us or anything," Kiffin said. "This was the ability to add somebody that could bring competition to us if he's in the right mind-set."
I dont understand what Sapp is trying to prove. This guy is not going to challenge him for his starter's role, so what's the problem?? A team with good depth, just becomes that much more dangerous, look at the ne pats. It looks to me like Coach Kiffin & Derrick Burgess understand what's going on. Why not give this guy a try? You have everything to gain, and nothing to lose. Absolutely a low risk-High reward scenario for The Oakland Raiders Defense. Sapp is over there getting a little emotional about his eight. Looks to me like it's more Burgess' eight. Seems to me he's looking out for the betterment of the team, and Burgess wants what's best for the Defense!!!!! A low risk-High reward scenario for the Defense, yeah....makes me just want to cry that somebody better might join our team and more wins might come our way because of it.

Hold on now...Sapp has bought into the competition thing and is telling this guy that he needs to be impressive and put forth plenty of effort to make an impact. I'm all for what Sapp is sayin'! This is all about competition...and thats why the guy is here. Lets not forget that Sapp is THE BEST DT in the league! He has nothing to prove. If Warren is any good, he'll fit right in...this team is hungry, especially the defense. Furthermore, Warren will probably be trading reps with Sapp, since Sapp is up in years.
I don't see any person cracking the swagger of this starting defense...
I love it!
