good read, its hard to compare preseason games to regular season games but I think rebuilding our o-line's confidence is just as important as anything for our team right before the season starts. They went through hell and back last year. But the article made a good point that a lot of us forgot. We had no real blocking TEs nor a FB that could really block last year. thx 40 for the read.

I refuse to believe that any of last year's olinemen are still on the team.... these look like completely different players and the whole offense has a completely different look......... good things are on the horizon.

As previously stated here, pre season is just that. No stunts, vanilla formations and veterans on the first team just trying to stay healthy until the fire starts week 1.
I do believe we have very good coaches now. How quick/well the,"students" learn remains to be seen.

Watching the two games I saw that Arizona and the Whiners used plenty of stunts and blites that were all picked up well.
The blitz packages willl get more complicated in the regular season but us showing the basic principles of good communication and execution means we are progressing.

So far so good. Lets see what the season brings us. I certainly hope they continue to play at this higher level...

For Kiffin, though, the big difference is communication among blockers.
"As you watch now for two games, you don't see people running free," he said. "And we're throwing the ball a good amount. We're talking about 75 passes in two games, and that's the whole thing: Up front, are we communicating with our backs and tight ends? It's the same thing when I got here. We said, 'Seventy-two sacks. Is it the offensive line?' No, it's everybody. It's the system."
I like this quote from the article. AND in Tom Cable's defense, this is exactly what the guy said when he arrived in Oakland. He said we had a lot of talent on the Offensive Line, he felt it was a possibility that there was more talent here than he had previously in atlanta. All us fans just read and looked at Cable like "WHAT?!?!?!?" (just saying the right things upon arriving in Oakland.) But you can tell that there is DEFINATELY improvement. They have some things they can build upon now. Actually a pretty exciting time for our O-Line!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of all our units, this was the one I was worried about the most. Now they're beginning to show little signs of improvement. YES!!!!!!!!!
C'MON TOM CABLE....GET THEM BOYS PLAYING!!!!!!!!!
**** Cracked me up when Andrew Walter stated "I went up to each and every one of them, and Thanked them personally!!!!" After all he's been through, I dont blame Walter!!!!!

I am enjoying what I am seeing this pre-season...
I see a team that looks hungry to play...under a new leadership...
I enjoyed watching the "O"-line hold down...

Nice read. I think it's a combination, starting with the fact that the team has moved into the new millennium.
We got new talent. We got previous talent being used differently. We have quick hitting plays, be it run or pass.
It's all Walsh had to do. Have Aaron Brooks pop-up from under center and fire it out to Randy at the LOS a couple times a game. What a difference that one move makes in terms of the offensive line's performance.
