Vernon Davis and Smith will be abusing corners for years to come. Smith has taken a step forward. That ball thrown to 46 was perfect. a 4.4 250 TE is hard for anyone to handle one on one. We'll see if Huff steps up but don't discount the players on the other side.

Grove has BUST written all over him. If he can't find another position to play, he's done. Center is not for him in the NFL. It's sad, but we wasted a 2nd round pick on this chump. I'm sick of him not living up to expectations. At least Gallery is looking good at LG. Granted, we should not have wasted a 1st round pick on him either, at least he's serviceable. Grove is useless...

And you bases this off of one pass Davis caught? He leaves a lot to be desire and he is a big, big mouth.

On one play, it appears Grove was assigned to block the Niners nose tackle Sopoaga one-on-one. There's no way in Hell Grove can take on Sopoaga. Especially when it's a running play between the guard/center gap. That was the play that ended up being a long gainer, but was called back on a hold by Grove.
I've posted about Huff's lack of tackling technique before. He's fast, a big hitter, but he lacks technique when it comes to tackling in the open field IMHO. He's defensive skills seem to be okay. Covering someone one-on-one is tough for any defender IMHO. You win some. You lose some.

Right on the money!
The biggest dissappointment was the TD on Huff. I would figure him to be more conscious and turn around as soon as he was in the endzone because he was running after a defender at almost full speed. The missed tackle on Davis irritated me because Davis, who has no room to talk sh#t, taunted the sideline and hyped the crowd. Davis is still a rookie if you ask me because of his injury last season. He needs to shut the F#ck up and play.
Both teams seemed to play pretty sloppy in certain areas. But, it was an exciting game and the offensive woes of last seasona are behind us for the most part.

To be the best in the NFL it requires concentration on every play. The best don't let others bring them down. The best elevate the game of those around them. The best think like winners. The has-been's do not.
Feeding off of the intensity of practice, DT Warren Sapp decided he wanted to breakdance in from of the offensive line before the ball was snapped. Sapp would recover in time to be ready for the next play.

"The Raiders have fumbled seven times in two games, though they have lost only one."
That's disturbing we need to stop the fumbling and the fumbled snaps

The 3 long, sustained scoring TD drives were with Newberry. Grove should be a backup center & backup guard. He lacks the sheer power & strength to take on physical NTs.
I'm still a firm believer that Huff's best position is FS whether that change is made in 2007 or 2008.
