I don't think I quite contradicted myself. Speed is different than Quickness. Quickness involves intial burst, stopping and starting. Both Rice and Warrick were not fast but possessed excellent quickness.
Also, it does matter how fast you can run. Escpecially at certain positions. What made Moss so dominant in Minny. Speed. What makes Smith in Carolina so dangerous. Speed. What makes Bush so dangerous...speed.
All of those players games are based around their speed and it is a major reason why they are the players that they ARE. Could they be good players
without there speed. Probably. Would they be the same player....no way!
Now I am not saying that speed is everything a player needs to be successful
but it does make them a commodity in the NFL. Speed Kills in football!
