McShay on Knapp, Kiffin and the Draft on Gameday
Todd McShay was on espnradio's Gameday with Doug Gottlieb. DG asked McShay about Knapp, about how he was criticized for Vick's lack of development as a WC QB...and what his hire will mean to Oakland's offense.
McShay replied, and i found this really interesting, is that Knapp's hire doesn't mean the Raiders will employ a WCO next season. he said Knapp's impact will be felt more with the running game, and McShay brought up his imprint on Atlanta's running game....and how Atlanta's run offense was at or near the top the past three years. Gottlieb then started to assume then the Raiders would be targeting either Quinn or Peterson then, and not JaMarcus Russell.....and McShay replied and i quote, "Who knows what they'll do in Oakland, because in the end, it doesn't make a difference who the coaching staff prefers. Al's got the final say so we (meaning scouts and analysts) can run around in circles til draft day trying to figure that one out." i found the interview amusing...but what i was left with was the idea that the running game could be prominently featured next season. i'm excited by the idea because if the new coaching staff is allowed to do their own thing without being meddled with, we might have a pretty good product on the field come next season. |

Yes, he's a great running back in college and he had a great size for the NFL. He will be our next Marcus Allen...

The Raider way is the tamdem system--Garner/Wheatley---Kauffman/Wheatley--------------Davis/Van Eeghan------Jackson/Allen
I know we havn't allways done it that way but we've certainly had success with it. |

“DeAngelo Hall has been getting burnt since he was in Atlanta,” Sapp said. “This is nothing new. DeAngelo Hall is the flashiest, burnt-up corner in the history of the game. He gets burnt more than anyone else, and he all of a sudden is this great Pro Bowl cover corner. I never saw that in DeAngelo Hall. He would gamble and do everything unsound on the corner." - Warren Sapp on DeAngelo Fall |
