Why does being a manica, boisterous etc. on the sidelines equate to being a fiery coach, or a motivational coach etc.

Does Belichik, Parcells, do that, jump and down with hysteria? Did B.Walsh? Did Callahan when we went to the Super Bowl?

Who cares about his demaneur on the sidelines, now fans are lloking way too deep into this guy, and being over-analytical about stuff.

Can he handle Xs and Os? We'll see...he''l grow and learn no doubt!

Can he handle in-game situations, i.e time outs, 2-minute warning and coaching/play calling there, half time adjustments, etc.

Those are the things he'll be judge by eventually, thats what he'll have to learn and grow into and be a solid coach in those aspects...

Can he get his team pprepared, focused, and sold on one task; following his SYSTEM his beliefs etc.

Thats what we shoudl look at!

JUST BUILD BABY!!!

True, but they still move, talk, and act like they are alive, Shell was a statue. When you see a coach go the whole game without talking to his players, something is wrong.

This is true. I think Shell just stayed there all season and occasionally somebody came out to clean the pigeon poop off of him.

The key here IMO is does the Coach COMMUNICATE with his players... or at least somone on the coaching staff COACH during the game.

Dungy Belichik, Parecells all talk to their players DURING the game... just a word... a comment... doesn't have to be fiery... but they DO have to communicate.

Shell never did that. You NEVER saw him talking to players during the game... NEVER!!!

And apparently he never talked to them off the feild either (at least by reading some comments from players, Moss, Porter, Walter, Simms...)...

COMMUNICATION is the key to coaching IMO.

Exactly, that is why Shell was a bad coach. You always see good coached talking, teaching to the players during a game. Perhaps the most important part of being a coach is communicating.

Shell got into a heated argument with Hostetler in Miami in his first tenure. Shell is seething, but on this latest run, because of health conditions, he could not run the gamut with his players....with that in mind, you have to know he took the job as a favor to Al.....you sacrifice your health to get back on the sidelines? When you know a coach is not going to ream you for a mistake, you're going to make mistakes over and over again. I'm sure players knew Shell had to control himself because of health.

As for Kiffin? Who knows? Honestly I don't care....has Belichek openly yelled at his players, what about Walsh, Holmgren? It's how wisely you use those few minutes to correct the players mistakes that will tell how good of a coach you are....because once it's past, it's forgotten.
