The only real possibilities are coaches that are already kicking ass in the NFL as HCs. They wil leave and come to Oakland.......ummm, well, umm, why?

Man Kiffin and Sark, I'm excited.

I didn't really undeerstand you point, until I noticed it was written in all CAPS. Now its totally clear!

Seriously though. Worst mistake ever? who knows. Could be, could not be. Results can't be much worse than Art, Bugle, White, etc.

I do think the Sark bandwagon is a little strange though. Dude doesn't have much experience. I'm willing to give the guy a shot but wht makes people so excited about him.

I guess the fact his name isn't Art Shell!

First I don't understand where this "inexperience = no coaching talent" idea comes from.

I can think of plenty of coaches who got their shot with little or no experience as a coordinator / head coach. And I don't remember a requirement of being an NFL coordinator as a prerequisite for becoming a coach.

The reason I like the idea of Sark (and possibly Kiffin) is that they are polar opposites of the last few coaches we've had. Coaches who show no fire, and you can't tell if they are sleeping on the sidelines. Sark is hungry for this job and I want a coach that has that attitude. From what i've read Al was impressed wtih him as well. And it took Gruden 2 tries for Al to find that spark in Jon he was looking for.

I have been watching BSPN and surfing various sites waiting for the Raiders announcement to be official and I can't wait to see what he can bring to this franchise. I haven't felt this confident with a coach since Gruden. (and they both run similiar style offenses.)

I respect your opinon. Just because it is different does not mean it is wrong. I DEFINATELY disagree with your viewpoint that everyone who supports Sarsk getting hired also supported Shell.

I am not sure how many people actually wanted Shell back. To be honest, I don't think many people did. I remember a LOT more people were pissed off about it than happy about it, but just like when you have a boss at work you don't get along with, you deal with it. We support whoever runs the show. Being that it was Shell, we supported Shell.

I didn't want Norv and I didn't want Shell. I didn't want Collins and I didn't want Brooks. The biggest reason is because I knew what they were bringing to the table and that is exactly what they brought. Unfortunately it was the same thing they brought to other teams as well which is why they were in the position to be picked up by us.

Right now we are finally gambling. I do not like the comparisons to Gruden, because Gruden had much more experience in the NFL, but I like the comparison of both being gambles. Its about time we took a gamble because we try too hard to play it safe sometimes.

I am not saying he is going to turn this team into a playoff team overnight, or even make this team successful, but I am all for giving him a chance.

Nobody knows if the new Head Coach, whoever he is, is gonna turn this around.
We just gotta wait & see.
However, I don't want any retreads in here.

How do you see it like that?

Why doesn't he seem to be the right guy? Why do you think he is a puppet? You still can't seem to give an alternative.

Exactly...I said that in my 2nd post in this thread, it's just not logical.

I suppose they only one who would have been CLEARLY a good candidate would be Cowher...and he is probably not interested.

LOL....

Look, I dont think your accurate about one thing:

WRONG -- 'Cause Ive said, this Sarkisian potential hiring may be the one I've been the happiest with since Gruden. Heck, I questioned Cally, he led us to a Bowl...fine! But, I wasnt enamored completely with Turner or Shell. If Sarkisian is at the helm of this ship -- I'll be a happy camper!

As for this...

With all due respect -- THATS IRRELEVANT!!!
I guess the only media that is 'stupid' is the one we perceive to be as 'stupid' when they write an unfavorable article or that doesnt kiss our butt when we want. Or, the same one we get all giddy about when they write about how good we are, or any other good stuff we like...

Is that the same media that the Raider fans have built a schtick about, how they LOVE to hate the Raiders...

Crazy, like Ive said before -- its ok when the Bengals and Cardinals are dumped on by that same 'stupid' media. We all yucked it up for years when Cincy was a laughinstock and when they said..."Cincy is officially on the clock for the 1st pick...", after their week-1 defeats. Turn the tables around, "Oh NO THEY DIDNT....."

It gets old, really.

No coach who comes in here, will have a set of goals to align the media to what us fans perceive should be, in terms of their angles or reporting...thats nuts!

In closing, I really enjoyed your post -- Good to see differing opinions!
you and i both know that the media in general adds "color" to the articles and opinions, over the airwaves and newspapers. most of the media will not be nice to a head coach of the raiders therefore the man who takes the job will have to deal with the media's attack on him. thickskin.
