Immediate and Bold

Based on perception alone, the Raiders organization needs to act boldly and immediately with hiring a new Head Coach. The longer questions linger, the more bashing the Raiders will take. There will be enough attention on the team with the #1 pick. Hire the USC assistant or promote Ryan by Wednesday -- give us a direction and let's move on.

It seems that "hot" coaches in this football culture have more and more power to create their destiny -- witness Mangini, Payton, and possibly Whisenhunt (all who interviewed with or spurned the Raiders) -- so we need to strike now with a young coach before he sees the light of other opportunities. I hate to write this, but I think it's the truth.

Al needs to change his ways or it won't happen.

As soon as AD is willing to give up more control of running the team is when we'll start getting the kind of coaches you mentioned.

I am more concerned about finding the right coach than I am about when it happens. Now, hopefully Al won't wait until February like he did last year, but if Rex Ryan is on the radar he will have to wait until the Ravens are eliminated.

As long as the new coach has time to hire quality assistants I am ok with a time frame (if Al even gives him the authority to hire new assistants).
