He did pretty well the final few games, but we expect total domination.

Gallery has had a very unstable situation so far in his career. I think he can turn it around.
I have pointed this out time and time again! Pace gave up 22 sacks his first 3 years and Rams fans were calling for him to be cut...

I 'm on the record as saying I think he'll be okay. I was at the last game (Jets), and I watched it again when I got home. Gallery was easily the best left tackle on the field, better than Ferguson. Gallery is a much better run blocker than Ferguson, who can't move anybody. Gallery pass blocked on an island and didn't give up a sack or even significant pressure. He even pancaked the DE on one pass rush, which you don't see very often.

On the other side, Ferguson looks like a basketball player in pads, very skinny with no power. He let up a sack to Sapp on a stunt and was beaten numerous other times by Huntley, only Pennington's ability to get rid of the ball saved him. For most of the game Ferguson was getting help from a running back to block Huntley on passing downs. Imagine our reaction if Gallery needed help to block a practice squad player!

Frankly, Gallery played a damn good game against Kansas City too, with the exception of one sack. I don't think any left tackle would have looked good in Walsh's "hold your block for 10 seconds" offense. Gallery looked good in Shoop's offense, even coming back from a gruesome elbow injury. If we can get some good offensive coaching in Oakland soon, I still think his career will take off...

Nice post and i agree. Too bad the little dudes won't have the patience to read it, being 3 paragraphs and all, and instead will probably follow with 'He sucks' or 'Gallery is a bust' or....

Gallery will be fine. He'll be Aso par deux.

Jake Grove however, is a different story altogether...

I ask because I haven't heard anything about him since he was drafted.
I know, this is his 1st year at LT full-time, but since his insertion at RT during his rookie season, the guy has been slow to show his potential any where at the OL. Actually, he played better at RT than he has at any point at LT. This is the time in his career where we should be seeing growth, where the likes of W.Jones, J.Ogden, O.Pace, in their careers starting showing signs of what made them top tier Tackle selections. Well, if Gallery is and was supposed to be one...THE TIME IS NOW! Or, if we cant see this growth next season, the "bust" word will tossed around. I'm not goign to go as far as some and rant B.S about how he "sucks" and needs to be "cut", as I saw much of that garbage this past season, but the guy needs to show just a bit, of what he could do at LT to give us a glimmer of hope.

Gallery, how he back-peddles and lets DL get into him, or just maneuver around him, and due to his lack of use of hands and getting caught in his back-peddle instead of changing it up and getting his grubby hands on DL -- the guy isnt in college vs BOYS, I know -- a far different game. But, you would think a lot of the skills that made him such a dominant OL in college would translate onto the field in the NFL. Its been a slow progress. I think he can still be a reliable LT in the NFL -- I just hope we can salvage him ASAP!

With Slater, Eatman, Shell its a shame what occured this season....I thought this could be the one facet of this team that would evolve as the season progressed...
