--Get yourself a quality General Manager that is going to work with Mr. Davis, one who understands what is needed to guide this team in the right direction.

--Get an offensive minded head coach that fits what Mr Davis and the General is looking for--perferably a coach who understands how to attack a defense in both the short game and vertically. This coach also needs to be one who is going to be here for more than 5 years.

--Retool the offensive line; get rid of the draft picks that have not worked out like we have thought. This means Walker, Grove are gone, and Gallery gets one more year before we reassess the LT position. Go with Boothe and Paul Mcqusitan insisde as they were the only two lineman who play got better to a degree as the season came to a closure.

--Build with the strength that you have on defense: a young nuclues of players that are talented and they want to play for their coach. With this, you get 2 more playmakers in the front seven--A big time defensive end that can play the run well and create pressure, and a OLB that is an effective blitzer and one who can stop the run.

--Get yourself a quality Tight END that is going to help seal the edges off in both run and pass-- Zach Miller or Eric Johnson would be nice.

--Hire quality position coaches that are intune with 21st century football, not a bunch of stoic coaches who aren't that good.

-- Add 1-2 gamebreakers on offense-- a quality wideout who can relive pressure of Curry and Gabriel, and a franchise back that can move the chains.

--Get football players not freakish studs with an football IQ of a coconut. We need football players that have instincts and ones that are compotent enough to pick up the scheme quick enough.

--Be patient with the direction the team is going. Don't be so hesistate to fire coaches.

--Adjust the scheme to the personel. Understand what works and what doesn't.

^ I like it too.

I also want players who GENUINLY (sp?) wanted to play here. I am tired of millionaires packing it in while here I am having to pay to see them.

I have been a fan for a very very long time and have spent $$$$ to support this team and I probably hasnt seen a year like this year and last year. I see players not caring and giving up etc.etc.etc. I will not say bad descisions because in reality bad descisions are only bad if it did not work.

I am tired of losing! I am tired of having to wake up every monday morning mad because my team 'stunk it up' the day before. I guess I just wasnt used to this. At least the Raiders that I grew up watching fought to the end, even when losing.

Anyway, I kind of want to share WHAT I FEEL (doesnt mean I am right or I am claiming to be right) that the building blocks are to make our vision of winning a SB again a reality.

AL DAVIS - Respected and appreciated! I for one have the utmost respect form what and who he is as part of the Raiders. However, I think its time for him to step back and give the reigns to a younger man that has the same vision of winning like him. Time has past him by and his methods of operation is now more of a miss than hit. 'Just win baby' - I dont think is enough to win a SB! winning one here and there is no longer going to help you build a consistent attitude of winning. We need to have a system and stick to it. We need to win consistently and 'JUST WIN' in the playoffs!

STOP THE DELUSION OF A STRONG ARMED QB and the 'Vertical' offense - We have heard it time and time again that the Raiders and Al Davis love 'strong armed' QB's but we broke records when we had the 'weak arm' QB in MVP Rich Gannon! we just saw how Jeff Garcia even gave the Eagles new life. We need someone who can lead us and take us to that goal of winning consistency! Strong armed QB is not necessary going to give you yardage and wins. Two examples are Drew Breese and Chad Pennington they have produced with their 'weak arms' and had thousands of yard and tons of TD's this year. Yes, WCO can do it too. regardless of the system, we need players to execute.

STICK WITH A SYSTEM - I know this is hard for everyone but patience is really needed. We need an innovative 'new breed' system to install here and stick to it. Bring in the players needed for that system to work.

You build from these and I think we are on our way to our 4th Superbowl but like how any foundation will work this will not work until my first block is laid. Because as supportive as I am with Al, I think his method of picking players and signing free agents doesnt work anymore.

There, if this doesnt happen. I will continue to do my best to be the best fan I know how.

Whats your building block?

Raiders win lose or tie!

Great post Son, I've been saying the same thing for a couple of years and have been called a Raider hater by some on this board. The truth hurts sometimes and we can't see the forrest because of the trees. If we don't change our ways we will continue to lose. The Raider way is a thing of the past as is the vertical offense.

Yes!

And if you have Prima Donnas on the team, you gotta bend a bit, or a lot.
If you don't like a player like Porter, play them a lot, get their value up, and trade them later for more than they're worth. Don't just throw them away.

An NFL coach has to take the big picture into account, not just the petty crap in front of his face.

Back to the "Adjust the scheme to the personel, it gets me nuts when OC's or DC's are too inflexable to adjust to what they have, or what they face. Ryan has shown he can, after aborting the failed Brayton at LB experiment, adjust. Shell's biggest problem was not adjusting to anything. Period.

we must return at the base and the base is the o-line and the d-line, when in the 70's and 80's i look foot-ball, steelers was the team who already has good LB , the eagles also, dallas was recognize with a good coaching staff and good qb, vikings was recognize with a good running game, and the raiders was recognize with the beast o-line in the league, year after year we want the best o-line of the league and a solid front four on defense, we must built the basement, we must built the o-line and the d-line. when our qb will have 6 or 7 seconds to throw and when our rb will have hole to run we will be ok.

We have the set system we can have that continuity. Why does Pitt and Denver (like it or not) have a solid team year in year out.

This year should be a good start because we get the top pick, I just hope that the coach we hire will be here to 'build' on whoever we will pick.
We drafted Gallery becuase Sims had been getting cooked by every speed rusher in the league for 2 years running and he was regarded to be the closest thing to a lock in the draft. Norv Turner had nothing to do with the fact that we drafted him. There were at least 5 other teams begging to get into that slot to select him. With that said, had Gallery and Grove not been busts we would be in much better shape right now.
