But naw, the Bengals were a botched PAT away from the playoffs so given the circumstances they did alright for themselves. And Portland was in the playoffs for a couple of years as the "Jailblazers" It's not like it's impossible to do, you've just gotta have luck with injuries which the Bengals didn't have.

He gets burnt more than anyone else, and he all of a sudden is this great Pro Bowl cover corner. I never saw that in DeAngelo Hall. He would gamble and do everything unsound on the corner." - Warren Sapp on DeAngelo Fall |

"If you ever get thrown in jail for doing something stupid, don't call me...cause you're safer where you're at. I just think that if a guy on the squad is putting himself in a position to get arrested for ANY offense, he's put himself above the needs of the team, particularly if he's a top 5 position player in the League. |

So the next cop I see I walk down and point at him cursing at the top of my lung and callin him every bad name in the book. Now I coulda got arrested for that, and if say a player got arrested for that would it be a big deal? Or would something like bein drunk in public and bein abraisive or something like that be a big issue?

Sorry to hear about your start to the New Year. In response, I would just say that if someone gets arrested for cursing and pointing at a police officer, regardless of the reason, they made the choice to get arrested. Them's the rules, man. If a player got arrested for that, yes, to me that's a big deal, because it's a clear lack of respect for authority. And in a TEAM game, the authority (coaches, owner, etc.) should be respected. I realize that "**** happens", but it doesn't have to happen in your example. I see this heading down a bad path for me, so I'll again just agree to disagree. At the end of the day, I just want guys playing for my Oakland Raiders who WANT to PLAY for the Raiders, and make sure that they don't take that opportunity away with their own selfishness or foolishness. Peace.

Off field issues can become posionous to a team in either college or pro sports. |

In those days when someone got out of line, that guy got the living S kicked out of him in a closed lockerroom. After watching Shell tick like a 5000lb bunker buster bomb on the sidelines this year, do you think as a teammate on the 1970 edition of the Raiders he or Upshaw or Tatum would have been as understanding w/Porter or Moss as Sapp was? Randy being Randy? Na, these guys like CWood and Moss aren't Raider outlaw types, they're morons. |
