But naw, little minor offenses aren't a big deal IMO. As long as they are doing what they're suppose to do on the field it ain't a big deal. If you've got a charismatic and dynamic leader on the sidelines I think those type of things won't be nearly a big deal.
AHHHHH...I dont think so!

Marvin Lewis is a charismatic leader, a very good coach -- did you see the mess his team was off the field? What happen to them? EXACTLY!

The Vikings were a mess off the field, the PLAYERS loved Mike Tice, and they always professed their love for him...What happen to them? EXACTLY!

C'mon man...you know better than that Undertaker!

I'm that good of a coach...

But naw, the Bengals were a botched PAT away from the playoffs so given the circumstances they did alright for themselves. And Portland was in the playoffs for a couple of years as the "Jailblazers"

It's not like it's impossible to do, you've just gotta have luck with injuries which the Bengals didn't have.

Well, we'll probably have to agree to disagree. I've never been arrested (although there are several times that I probably should have and got lucky). My dad warned me at age 14 -

"If you ever get thrown in jail for doing something stupid, don't call me...cause you're safer where you're at.

I just think that if a guy on the squad is putting himself in a position to get arrested for ANY offense, he's put himself above the needs of the team, particularly if he's a top 5 position player in the League.

So you don't believe in the theory that "**** happens"? Like take my New Year's Eve for example, some idiot ran me off the road and I crashed and totaled my car. The police station is up the road and after my friend calls the police it takes almost an hour for an officer to come over and in the process about 5-6 cops pass by the scene lookin at us flag them down.

So the next cop I see I walk down and point at him cursing at the top of my lung and callin him every bad name in the book.

Now I coulda got arrested for that, and if say a player got arrested for that would it be a big deal? Or would something like bein drunk in public and bein abraisive or something like that be a big issue?

Sorry to hear about your start to the New Year.

In response, I would just say that if someone gets arrested for cursing and pointing at a police officer, regardless of the reason, they made the choice to get arrested. Them's the rules, man.

If a player got arrested for that, yes, to me that's a big deal, because it's a clear lack of respect for authority. And in a TEAM game, the authority (coaches, owner, etc.) should be respected.

I realize that "**** happens", but it doesn't have to happen in your example.

I see this heading down a bad path for me, so I'll again just agree to disagree. At the end of the day, I just want guys playing for my Oakland Raiders who WANT to PLAY for the Raiders, and make sure that they don't take that opportunity away with their own selfishness or foolishness.

Peace.

That's definently something all of us have to agree with. My mentality is boys will be boys especially when they've got money but if they still want to play for this team and are ready on Sundays and play hard then they're good with me. Choir boy or criminal...

And the Jailblazers imploding because of the long rap sheet their players had. If they had a coach like Larry Brown or Phil Jackson, a lot of those things would of never happen. In fact, a lot of those players would have been traded off the bait.

Off field issues can become posionous to a team in either college or pro sports.

Yea, that whole fantasy of the Raiders being the home of outlaw football is stale,

In those days when someone got out of line, that guy got the living S kicked out of him in a closed lockerroom. After watching Shell tick like a 5000lb bunker buster bomb on the sidelines this year, do you think as a teammate on the 1970 edition of the Raiders he or Upshaw or Tatum would have been as understanding w/Porter or Moss as Sapp was?

Randy being Randy?

Na, these guys like CWood and Moss aren't Raider outlaw types, they're
morons.
