I agree to some level. But the things he had to say even calling out Howie Long shows Moss for what he is. The simple fact is we might have been in some of the games had he not had a **** outlook on the team and the same goes for Porter who has been a pain evey HC he has had to play for. Yea we could probley keep them if we got rid Shell, are they really guy's you want on the team. Moss has not done a damn thing for us yet,and porter when he has a good out look plays well. But if we keep them and we pass on Clavin Johnson we are the most screwd up team in the NFL.

Calvin Johnson is good he looks like a young Randy Moss but who exactly on the Raider team is going to throw to him? For pete's sake we have one of the best receivers now to ever play the game and where did that get the Raiders? Let's look at the 9ners why are they suddenly winning games I'll tell you why GORE they got themselves a great runningback, Chargers are great because of LT, Chiefs just made the playoffs because of Larry Johnson, we need to draft Adrian Peterson no matter who we have at QB a good runningback is going to make them look good.

Im going to make this as plain as i can. People who want Art Shell back need to have their head examined. I wish you could tell us real raider fans that want to win anything positive Art has done in the 2006 season. The boards are open.

Free Agents will not come here if they know we will not succeed because of a incompetent coach, our number one pick will not want to come here and that will be embarrassing just like it was for San Diego and it probably will not turn out as good as it turned out for San Diego our luck does not run that way lately. If it was anybody other than the hall of famer Art Shell you would probably be calling for his head.
thats htting the nail on the head.....and thats what i'm most afraid of....i honestly think guys on defense may start to get fed up and start the whole trade me or let me go thing....and honestly i can't say i blame them......look.. not everyhting this year is shell's fault and at first i was with some of u that are saying he needs more time and let him clean house....but at the same time i started noticing the sideline emotions...the cluelessness in press conferences...everyone knows about the tom walsh fiasco....the fact that he and slater couldnt get this line better....in fact they took steps backward under him...at the least i was looking for an improvement somewhere.....in my eyes it didnt even have to come in the W column...i was already prepared for another sub-par season...hell, even though Al wouldnt like to admit it..we are rebuilding.....but the only improvement i saw was on the defensive side of the ball and i highly doubt Art had anything to do with that...that was all ryan and the players doing...they fought their ass' off most every game...even though by week 2-3 it was obvious this offense was rediculously bad.....every other part of the team digressed and not just a little...it was ALOT....its not like shell was thrown into a great situation or anything, but we have more talent IMO than some of the teams in the playoffs.....the way he handled the porter situation was childish and rediculous...then when moss starts mouthing off...he doesnt do anything...what kind of message does that send to the players???....bottom line is the players had a part in the bad season as well...but the job of a head coach is to motivate and direct those players in the right direction..shell didnt do that..and thats why i dont think he should be given another year...but it probably wont matter cuz i have a feeling...hes gunna be the coach again next year......

Do you not realize that bringing in another new OC (the fourth in three seasons) is just as much a change as hiring a new head coach, especially when your current head coach is about as hands-off as any in league history?

Explain to me why that kind of change is good, but the kind of change that would come with Art Shell's firing is bad?
And really, the only kind of consistency Art Shell brought this team was consistent losing.
Damn it Shaddock, stop being logical, this type of rational thought has no place on this forum! LOL! Great post! I would rep you, but I guess I need to share the love before I am able. Keep up the good fight!

I will go with trying to get PETRINO....not the coach the OC....his brother is the OC and he has had success before. Also, I would consider BROHM the QB coach he is experienced and he has done a good job with the QB situation. My other choice would be Sarkisan from USC.

You are correct it is my opinion and a host of other people's as well... Shell does not deserve one more year because of his past accomplishments as a player. You are right changing head coaches every year isn't a good thing, but it is when the current head coach you have is the worst coach they've had since Joe Bugel it is not only necessary it is essential... Shell couldn't clean house if his life depended on it... all we will see is more Alvis Whitted's on this roster than players who can actually play... Shell like Davis is in a time warp... this isn't 1967...

Who says Shell is behind all these decisions. Not playing Porter, starting Whitted all year, when or when not to play Brooks/Walter, when to fire Walsh.

Don't think Al wasn't in his ear all year about these things, or even forcing him to make decisions.

Oh yeah, I know there are all these Raiders as position coaches. Maybe if Al allowed the coach (whoever it is) to choose their own staff and make his own decisions regarding who plays or sits, we would be able to attract top players/coaches consistently.
