    Good hire.
His head coach/coordinator credentials leave something to be desired, but he's a great OL coach.

Sparano Hired as Assistant Head Coach

    Per Adam Shefter Twitter

The Oakland Raiders have hired former Jets offensive coordinator Tony Sparano as their assistant head coach/offensive line.
My next door neighbor is a Raider fan my 2 neighbors across from me are Raider fans. A Lion fan down the street hung up a Detriot Lions flag outside his house a week ago.
My neighbors and I hung up Raider Flags today and now it seems like the Lions fan took his down, huh I wonder why he did that?

Tony Sparano hired as Asst HC/Offensive Line per Schefter

Still a little unsure about this hire. Curious to know who's idea it was to make him assistant head coach why not just straight OL coach? Is this the back up plan in case Allen is fired mid season. Doesn't seem to me there is much confidence in Allen then.

Along with Al Saunders, Greg Olson has a ton of experience on his staff. There is also a lot of check-and-balance. I don't know if it's good or bad, I'll just wait and see.

This is a very good hire. The work he has done with o-lines in the past has been very good. Plus it is another nail in the coffin of the ZBS.

As for being Assistant HC, it makes sense given he has experience as an OC and HC in the past. May help take a little pressure off Dennis Allen, and help with the development of OC Greg Olson.

Dennis Allen will not be fired mid-season even if the Raiders are 0-8.

My guess is (and its only a guess) the assistant head coach title allowed the Raiders to pay him a bit more money then your typical O line coach would get. I doubt it means anything with regard to the organizations confidence in Allen. I think the hire is fantastic! Things are starting to look a little better from where I stand.
