It's possible the Raiders will try to deal Palmer. I could see new Cardinals coach Bruce Arians making a play for Palmer. Arizona might unload disappointing Kevin Kolb and a 2014 draft pick to Oakland for Palmer in a swap. Arizona gets a veteran QB and drafts one, while the Raiders go "all in" with Pryor and if he does good great if not here comes Johnny Manziel in 2014.
He'll be a RS SO next year so technically he'll be eligible...as well as the kid at Oregon.
The way Johnny parties off the field he'll probably enter the draft if teams give him a 1st round grade...
Russell Wilson has been a big help to him in terms of teams view short athletic QBs.
Teddy Bridgewater will be the number 1 pocket passer next year though.
Pryor right now is a more athletic Gradkowski until proven otherwise.
I like when players stay in college, but there is a point of no return. Next year, if he plays anywhere near the level he did this year, and he should, if not get better, he will be a top pick, probably #1. Under that scenario, returning to school only risks injury, draft position, and ultimately millions of dollars.
Jadeveon Clowney, aka the Lawrence Taylor Jr., will also probably be in the draft next year. Not that I am advocating the Raiders having yet another awful year, but next year is a much better year to struggle and get a high pick than this year was.
haha what's funny is people will now run with this for 8 months now as if he truly has a shot. RM just spitting typical GM stuff....
Palmer hasnt given any team a chance to win since about 2006.
He's like a wet fart blowing in the wind.
Palmer is pretty much a better version of Leinart. He'll complete some short passes, but he can't throw down the field and bring zero big play potential to the offense.
Pryor's athleticism alone can help against the pass rush and improve the run game.
He may not be a great pure passer, but his athleticism also allows him to make plays in the passing games that pocket QBs can't make.
Did anyone read the thread titled Q & A with Olsen. Sounds to me like Pryor isn't in the plans for the Raiders in the near future (next season).
I would have to believe if we got the 1st pick RM could not pass on Clowney. I don't think it would matter what our QB situation is at the time. Literally depending on who we pick this year and if we end up number 1 next we could have the best Dline in the league in 2 years. Not only that we would have a solid Dline for years and you can't let that opportunity pass.
I don't think we will have the number 1 pick next year so depending on Pryor taking a QB could be the best play. Time will tell...

Of course it's going to be a competition, what are these guys taking the field for if not? And of course Palmer will be the starter no matter how well Pryor plays because Palmer is a vet making more than anyone else on the team. If Palmers not starting next season he shouldn't be here.
With that said it sounds like Pryor is pretty much locked in as the no.2. He'll get his shot and I think he'll run with it and not look back, no pun intended, when it does happen.
