ANYBODY ELSE! Literately a Mailbox or a bag of rocks could do a better job then.......... ya know, sigh ( i can't believe this fool was hired twice!)
Chris Ault
Pete Carmichael
Greg Knapp
Marty Mornhinweg
Norv Turner
Other (state in comment)
Ault invented the "Pistol" offense (or at least popularized it), so he gets my vote.
ANYBODY ELSE! Literately a Mailbox or a bag of rocks could do a better job then.......... ya know, sigh ( i can't believe this fool was hired twice!)
Pat Shurmer , Brad Childress , Edgar Bennett, Tom Clement, and Bill Callahan and Norm Chow all WCO backgrounds and all better options then Knapp or Marty Morningwhig are .
So any of these guys I would be fine with as OC
Out of the names up there , Pete Carmichael..... I assume his contract is up in New Orleans as their OC after this season.....he gets my vote !!
a couple of interesting names have been brought up.
chris ault stepped down yesterday from the hc position at neveda. saying that he did not want another position in the athletic department. many thought he would become the athletic director. he did invent the "pistol" offense and was the guy that coached kaepernack in college. i haven't seen neveda alot but enough to know that i like what they did on offense. he could be what a young qb like pryor needs.
carmicheal is another interesting name. i think everyone knows what the saints offense has done the last several years. is his contract up? would he be willing to leave to take make a latteral move?
personally i'd like either one of these guys.
callahan is an interesting name as well. under contract? he was a damn good oc when he was here before as well. after gruden left the offense really took off. he wasn't as conservative as gruden and i think we all really liked what we saw. cannot say the same for his last year as hc. would raider nation welcome him back after that mess?
norm chow has been an oc before and is a good offensive mind but it seems to me that he is a better qb coach than an oc.
i like norm as a oc. he is great in that position. terrible hc. but i think it is time we go with some new blood. something that the fans can get behind and support. i don't think that would be the case with norm even though his offense is productive.
I would try to get Hue Jackson back,
he was an awesome OC for us.
Sign some high profile HC (Gruden, Cowher, Billick...) an let Hue call the plays.
John Gruden HC/OC or if Allen comes back Chris Ault..... (edit) I didn't know Ault was as old as he is. So Carmichael jumps him on my list. I want no part of TURDner......

“We had an argument that was ongoing for about 50 years, about how to build a club. Where do you start? His thing was you start with the corners. My thing was to start with the offensive line.” John Madden

Chris Ault
Chris Ault is almost 70 years old.
Because as long as he's in New Orleans, he'll be seen as Sean Payton's de facto assistant OC, no matter what his job title is. If Carmichael comes here, everybody knows he'll be calling the plays; if he does a good job, he'll be able to write his own ticket as an HC somewhere.
No idea at this time. My heart would like to see us get back to Raider football. Power running with the veritcal game and TE down the middle. On the same note not sure if it an O of the past. I just love power football. Ram it down the throat of the other team. soften them up and always have the treat of the veritcal game. Take what you want rather than take what you are given.
I guess the concept is still there, it is a matter of modernizing the scheme. Who out there does this? Who out there has the overall speed that we have? Of course we got to beef up the O-line to do this. We got a few guys in place, but really do need a better ROT.
forgot to mention Jim Zorn as OC to my list fits the WCO .
Tedford, you figure we're going with a young QB in the next two years. Tedford is a QB coach yet had several great runners at Cal. I think him and Allen may be a good duo for our soon to be young core for the future.
