LINK: Oakland Raiders OC Greg Knapp preaching patience - NFL.com
Palmer said this week that Knapp told Oakland Raiders players from the start his offense would take time to learn.
"We're not going to come out and understand all the zone cuts and all the reads and have a real continuity with it up front with five guys working together," Palmer told the San Francisco Chronicle. "He said it was going to take some time and these last couple weeks, we've really seen that progress come together and make consistent plays in the running game."
Palmer's sunny view is partially accurate. The Raiders have averaged 4.5 yards a carry over the last five games, an improvement over the 3.9 figure the team owns on the year. Palmer told the Chronicle there's hope -- "A second year will do wonders, obviously," he said -- but we're suspicious.
Palmer has done an admirable job in a rough situation in 2012, but he was never a great fit for Knapp's scheme. Knapp's scheme, in turn, has not been a great fit for the Raiders.
We've seen Darren McFadden fall off the map and the Raiders feel like a team pushing players into an offense that doesn't suit their talents. The better teams around the NFL play to the gifts of their personnel and the Raiders might benefit from a fresh look.

Knapp and Palmer want to suck milk off the Davis family tits for as long as they can.

Boom! End debate.

Screw Knapp he needs to go asap we actually had a pretty good offense last year to complete crap this year that's on Knapp. Just get a OC who suits our players strengths so we can go back to a pretty good offense then go from there to work on being great. We just have too much talent on offense to be this crappy we're better than that, as far as the d is concerned that's gonna take at least 2-3 good drafts & smart free-agency signings to fix we have no talent there.
Anybody who believes Gregory Knapp is a good offensive coordinator must be some of the same people that believe the world will end tomorrow.![]()

Come on CSA logic doesnt work when Knapp is the OC. Its all on him. He caused our players to not be able to catch, and he is the reason Palmer throws picks. Obviously before Knapp got here all our players were stars, putting up big numbers and Palmer never had INT problems before....... Oh wait thats entirely BS.
Well the offense never gets set up in their own territory with turnovers from the D either. All the high scoring offenses get more help from their D. Even the Pats terrible D does a good job creating turnovers and giving Brady and co more opportunities. It goes both ways. Its a team game, both offense and defense need to play well to win.

I'm not a knappp fan, but I think we will get to an average offense with him. But average doesn't excite me.
But really, with the exception of McFadden, what guys on offense were worth worrying about for the long term. Tell me one guy on offense you feel could go to a probowl. Our FB Reece, and that is about it. Coming to McFadden, guess it comes down to whether you think he is the same guy as before his injury. I just don't see how it is Knapp's fault that McFadden goes down with hand tackles, lacks burst, and doesn't take open holes. Maybe the scheme is part of the problem, but McFadden just has not looked good.
Why build an offense around mediocre players? Only reason would be to win 7-8 instead of 4-5. In the long run it makes no sense. Great offensive teams have built offenses around great players. GB, Giants, NO, NE, etc. These teams have probowl talent on offense, we don't.
Please AL9000 tell me what players we have on Offense that would be probowlers in the next 3 years under different coaching. Same for defense.
I like a lot of your posts on here and think you're a good contributor. This offense has regressed. Call it scheme, unimaginative play calling, flat out horrible play calling but IMO it points back to Knapp. True we won more games last year but it wasnt because the D was any better, the offense was able to control the clock with the run game. Now we go 3 and out or end drives way to quickly putting a bad D on the field way to often. Bush was good in last years system, he's really been nowhere to be found this season so I wouldn't say it was due to his superior skill.
patience.
Does this sound familar? Scout.com: Have the Players Lost Faith in Knapp?
We want to win. The Raider fans deserve it. The Raider players deserve it, even my organization deserves it. You have to win and you have to win with a vision for the Super Bowl. That's our passion here. - Al Davis![]()
