    Palmer = Jeff George?

    I tried to push the thought out of my mind that Palmer was another Jeff George when we got him last year. I can't get rid of this thought anymore and have posted their similarity's below.

    -Both left their previous team on the worst circumstances possible
    -non mobile pocket passers
    -great arms and accuracy
    -made terrible plays at the worst time with the worst possible outcome (bad luck)
    -feels like they aren't part of the team (Look how involved Manning was with his team on the sidelines)
    -I often feel like every bad play can be either his fault or not depending on how you look at it.

    Great now all we have to do is bring back chucky and find another Gannon.

    No Palmer may have a few similarities but George had the worst attitude besides Ryan leaf. Palmer is more low key

    There are lots of similarities. The main one now is that like George, Palmer has become a transition quarterback that was originally brought in for his skills in one system but then the system changed and his skillset isn't as good a fit (rollout, mobility, etc.). The only difference, as has already been pointed out is attitude. Jeff George was a primadonna and wasn't willing to stand in their and take that last minute hit. I'll never forget the play where he had a perfect pocket around him but he thought he was about to get sacked so he just went down. That epitomized his attitude with the Raiders.

    Otherwise, it's hard to tell them apart. Big arms, some throws that are amazing and some throws that make you wonder if he'd temporarily lost his eyesight.

    Palmer = Jeff George?

    I don't remember Palmer ever comparing himself to Brett Favre like Jeff George did. George was similar to Favre in the interception department though.

    I can see the OP's thinking though since George and Palmer are big tall qb's with a cannon for an arm and a peanut for a brain.

    well if this is true, then he has 1 year left, and we find a gannon type player (as stated above)

    would have to be a veteran 2nd string with good work ethic.. Hmmmm who is out there that has played well with a team, yet not starting?
    Alex smith?
    Matt flynn?
    Vick and Pryor combo?
    Hasselback?
    or do i dare say..trade for
    P Rivers?

    dont think so, George was not well liked by his team mates palmer has never had this problem (EG TO and Johnson never had a problem with him ) In addition he did last 9 years on Cincy, George was never in a place for than 3-4 years cause of his attitude. He reminds me more like Hos or Collins maybe a solid QB with just not enough around him. Remember Kerry went to a super bowl with the giants in 2000 and in 2008 the titans were 13-3 with him at QB.

    I agree he might be a transitional QB, but he is much betterthan George.

    Come on people the raiders are giving up over 30 points a game, with this run game, defense sorry Peyton Manning or Brady wouldnt be much better than 3-9 or 4-8

    To me, George acted like he didn't care. Palmer seems to care deeply -- no comparison whatsoever beyond physical abilities IMO.

    to get any of those qb's, we'd have to trade. what are we going to trade? definitely not draft picks. we're trying to get more of those and get out of this problem of trading draft picks. we should trade dmc for some kind of draft pick

    he's jeff george minus the attitude

    but its not like his pseudo-leadership qualities make a difference

    all i do is see him give a rivers impersonation when things dont go his way.

    Palmer = Jeff George?

    Palmer is much more of a leader and team guy than George ever was. I wish we'd stop trying to find ways to blame Palmer for this mess. Allen needs to grow a pair, man up, and take responsibility for what he's failed to do as the head coach. Plain and simple. Players don't have any kind of leadership to follow.
