"We have a philosophy in the way that we want to do things defensively here and we’re not going to veer off that philosophy. Now, we’ve obviously got to look at what we’re doing and who we’re asking to do it and somewhere in there we have to find that solution and what that issue is."

ie; "Some of our defensive players really suck. Coaching and scheme are fine."

On the lack of a fast start: “I don’t know that stunned is the word. Disappointed that it happened that way. We knew we had to get off to a fast start against that team. You can’t spot a team 24 points and then say, ‘we’re going to come back now.’ We’ve got to learn that lesson. We’ve got to understand that when you go on the road, in a tough environment like that, you’ve got to be able to start fast, try to take the crowd out of the football game and we weren’t able to do that really in any phase of the game yesterday.”

On if the game is closer than it appears: “Listen, you’re closer than you think, but yet still we weren’t able to get anything going offensively early in the game. Defensively, we gave up way too many explosive plays early in the game. And those are things that we’ve got to get fixed, we’ve got to get corrected. We’re going to continue to work until we get them done.”

On the switch in momentum after the inadvertent whistle ruling: “I thought it was a fumble and I thought it was unfortunate that we weren’t able to get the ball off the inadvertent whistle. It gives a chance to…I think the score would have been 27-17 if we get that. I thought Joselio Hanson made an outstanding play on the play and for Tyvon [Branch] to pick it up and run it in, that’s exactly what we practice. That was unfortunate. I did feel like the momentum of the game kind of switched back right after that. They were able to convert a third down conversion, 3rd-and-long, for a big play. Really changed the whole momentum of the game. But at the end of the day, we didn’t play well enough. We lost the game. We’ve got to be able to overcome adversity, whatever those adversity situations are.”

    On giving up big plays:
“In the running game, it’s been assignment errors and tackling. There’s been some situations where when you load the box up and a guy gets out of a gap, it’s a big play. That’s happened on a couple of occasions with us. Then when guys get in the second or third level of our defense, we have to be able to get guys down on the ground. We can’t allow the explosive runs like we’ve given up.”

On staying the course versus going back to the drawing board: “I think you have to look at both of those. We have a philosophy in the way that we want to do things defensively here and we’re not going to veer off that philosophy. Now, we’ve obviously got to look at what we’re doing and who we’re asking to do it and somewhere in there we have to find that solution and what that issue is. We’ve got to put our players in the best position to make plays and then when we put them in those positions, they have to make plays. We’re all accountable for it and we’ve all got to do our job and that’s what we intend to do.”

On 8-8 last year and 3-8 so far this year: “It all boils down to we’ve all got a job to do and we’ve all got to be accountable to do our job and we have to do it the right way every single time. When we do that, we’ve played well. When we haven’t done that, we’ve given up big plays both offensively, defensively, and in the kicking game. This is pro football and we’ve got a job to do. Our job is to win football games. We’ve got to do a better job at doing that.”

On if the team is closer to the team he wants than when he started: “I feel like there’s certain elements that are at the foundation of what we believe in. I also feel like we don’t accept the results of where we’re at right now. It’s not acceptable to be 3-8. We’ve got to do something to change it.”

On what elements he thinks are there: “I believe that at the core of what we’re trying to do offensively, defensively and in the kicking game, being a more disciplined team, in certain elements of our team you can see it. The consistency obviously is not nearly where we need it to be.”

On making changes: “I think we’ve got to look at any options. Again, we’re all accountable to getting this thing corrected and getting it done right. Players and coaches, we’ve all got to be held accountable. We’ve got a standard that we uphold ourselves to and we haven’t lived up to that standard yet.”

On if he thinks he’s losing control of the team and his thoughts on two players being ejected: “I don’t feel that at all. The play in the game, Lamarr [Houston]…the offensive tackle came up on Lamarr and that happened. We’ve got to keep our composure. We can’t leave the bench; that’s unacceptable. We have to do a better job in that regard, but no, I feel like this team is believing in what we’re trying to get accomplished and I believe this team is going to continue to fight.”

On if there will be more changes: “It’s a potential. Today is Monday, we’ve gone in, we’ve looked at the tape. Coaches are meeting with the players as we speak and as we get done, we’ll spend more time talking about the things that we need to do moving forward getting ready for Cleveland.”

On status of Richard Seymour, Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson: “I’m hopeful that they’ll be able to practice on Wednesday.”

On if the trainers are giving him positive news on the injured players: “That’s why I’m hopeful because they’ve said they think there’s an opportunity that they might be ready to practice on Wednesday, so we’ll see.”

On if all three will be ready: “Potentially, yes.”

On three in a row at home: “I think we all recognize where we’re at in the season. We all recognize that we have five games left, the next three games at home. We need to do some positive things. We need to move forward. We need to get better and we’re excited about being able to be at home for the next three games.”

On any injuries from yesterday’s game: “No, nothing out of yesterday’s game.”

On thoughts of looking at Terrelle Pryor: “It’s been discussed. Again, today’s Monday, so we’re really not in that situation yet where we’re talking about the personnel changes that we might make going forward, getting ready for Cleveland. Again, we’ve got a job to do and our job is to win football games and we’ve got to find out ways to get it done.”

On what he’s seen from Pryor in practice: “I think he’s working to get better and he’s working to improve. I’ve seen improvement in Terrelle. He’s gotten better as a quarterback. He’s continued to work. I don’t think any of us feel like he’s the finished product, including himself, but he has worked to improve.”

After listening to Greg Papa on the game today two things are certain.

    1) Dennis Allen and Reggie will be back next year (Never a question on this)

Also noted the mess Reggie has INHERITED from the last few years of very poor drafts and over paying bums on this team.

    2) This roster is going to look very different next year based on what a lot of players are due next year salary wise. I.e. Kelly, Seymour, H. Bey, Huff just for starters...

I can't wait til the season if finally over to begin the REAL rebuilding process....

    Poor game planning
    poor motivation
    poor adjustments
    poor scheme
    poor execution
    poor attitude
    poor leadership
    poor discipline

when all these things come together the way they have here... this is what you get... pure garbage.

Saying "I've seen him improve but...." translates to "he still pretty much sucks hard." These guys are the types that are into good players now, not sexy projects.
