Just found out that some eleven year old from Oklahoma is lighting the flame. He's totally sick on Madden, his online record is 109-7.

don't read nothing more into this, IF he coaches it will be in Philly, otherwise at least 3 more years before he will even have a chance from Reggie here in Oakland!
Yeah, plus he's always been very gracious, complimentary and spoken fondly of the Raiders and Raider fans. He was our last great coach here so it makes sense to have him light the torch for the guy who hired him away from Philly and gave him his first HC gig. Reading anything more into it is silly. He's not looking to OC for anyone and we aren't in the market for a head coach.

Whatever. Gruden refused to even negotiate a new contract with Raiders. People celebrate the dude like he actually won something with Silver and Black. So what If he built a pretty good team, because at the end of the day he abandoned that same team to eventually kick its ass and take our Superbowl. Al Davis being the tenacious bad ass that he was actually was smart enough to get something in return for his sly ass that final year, but you all can continue to pretend that Gruden wanted to stick around.

A group of us should tie him up after he lights the torch and hold him hostage until he agrees to coach us again ...who's down? jk

    Gruden...

Loved it when he was here and still watch some of those old games from time to time but would not want him back as Coach.

Just like i didn't want Art Shell back, or Tom Walsh or Chuck Bresnahan or Greg Knapp...all failures.

I thought things would change when Al passed on but when Allen hired Knapp i knew old habits were gonna have to die hard, i look forward to the day when this organization quits going out to the dumpster to retrieve the trash.

What needs to be checked? Gruden refused extensions offered, and flat out said he would not return after his contract expired. I even provided you with a dated article from USA today stating as much, and I didn't even bring up his Notre Dame posturing.

    What are your facts?

Perhaps Raiders boss Al Davis would be celebrating now if he had valued Jon Gruden just a little more. No one outside the Raiders' complex knew it at the time, but Gruden was prepared to sign a contract extension to stay with Oakland in November/December 2001 that would have paid him nearly $2 million less per season than the deal he received from the Bucs.

All Gruden wanted from Davis were two things virtually every head coach has in his contract: control over the 53-man roster and the right to name his own assistant coaches. Davis stubbornly refused to give Gruden any more authority, and the deal fell apart. . . .

Gruden and his agent did quite a bit of media posturing. If you choose to believe that scenario then so be it, but to announce publicly there will be no chance of returning prior to the expiration of your existing contract was real suspect.

I heard Jeff George is going to light the flame in a couple weeks. Clearly this means he's coming back to QB the Raiders.
