    I feel once DVD.....

I feel once DVD really learns how to play the ball once its in the air he has the potential to be a good cover CB. His always running right with his man, or even if his man gets behind him he had speed to recover like Dieon Sanders could because he's so fast. His problem is he doesn't get his head turned around fast enough to make a play. I wish we would have kept Rod Woodson one of the best ever to coach him up and teach the tricks of the position. I feel two good defensive minds like Allen and Tarver can get him to be something special.

Seems like the reports from the off season had him outperforming Chekwa, but on game day it's a different story.

I'm sure he'll be fine once he gets his real game face on. Not sure if you recall all the negative talk about that guy Nnamdi early in his career... then whammo.

I definitely recall all the negative talk about #21, who was also a student of Rod Woodson.

It's rare to find a CB that's NFL ready right out of the gate. Especially after the 3rd round. I think he'll be fine. Having Tarver and Allen doesn't hurt either.
'In football, I root for the Oakland Raiders because they hire castoffs, outlaws, malcontents, and f*ck -ups, they have lots of penalties, fights, and paybacks, and because Al Davis told the rest of the pig NFL owners to go get f*cked... Someday, the Raiders will be strong again, and they will dip the ball in **** and shove it down the throats of the wholesome, white, heartland teams that pray together and don't deliver late hits’ – George Carlin

the primary problem that I have with DVD is that he's probably a worse tackler than Neon Deion - very one dimensional player who needs to step up his physicality big time in run support where he's a major liability.

My guess is that he is a project still. He is very fast, but does not know how to play CB so well. Bring him along bit at a time. If he progresses throughout the year, we might be talking about something for next year. I think he is still too raw now. Sounds like a nice kid, I'm rooting for him.

Question: have we ever tried him at KR even in practice? Speed like that should get used.

DVD is very raw and needs work on his technique. Probably wouldn't hurt for him to study more either. His speed is worthless if he lacks the instincts to make plays on the ball. His tackling is also not very good due to his weight. He's not gonna bring down any RBs with his size and being out of position most of the time (which is what happened during the Cardinals game) Not a bad kid but he shouldn't be starting. I sure hope Pat Lee can cover the slot better than DVD.

Running alongside a person well does not make one a CB.

I feel that saying "once DVD learns to play the ball in the air..." is like saying "Once this guy learns to be funny, I think he'll be a good comedian."

    Or

"Once this guy learns to sing and carry a tune, he'll be a good singer."

Competing for the ball in the air is a natural ability in many ways.

I'm a Chekwa fan, all the way... He shows the grit needed to play Football... not run track.

The guy needs to learn to tackle as well. I still have hope for him though.

So let me see if I can get this straight, he's undersized, not physical enough, cannot play the ball or has enough knowledge to go against veteran QB's like Manning or Rivers? Sounds like an ALL DAY DAVIS pick to me. Oh, hey DVD, this week you're man up on Megatron, ok? Cool....

DVD has nothing to worry about because he won't be on Megatron, that job will fall to Ro!

And I share the opinion that DVD will be much improved once he figures out how to play the ball in live action, his cover skills seem to be pretty solid.

I hope they do that on Saturday just to get a rise out of the fans. This place will blow up with DA and Tarver hate if we see that play again, lmao.
