the problem is knapp
palmer's tendencies are compounding the issue however
but right now, my focus is on knapp proving he can run a productive offense thats not one bad rush away from falling apart
I see a lot of people complaining about CP and his performance as of yet. The reality is that he is doing everything that the coaches are asking of him and has done nothing that the coaches didn't expect from him. Nobody ever said that he was Brady, Rodgers or Brees...everyone else in the league is in the same boat as us when it comes to complaining about INT's. If their not and their QB isn't one of the above then chances are their complaining about something else with their QB. So far I see a lot of receivers letting CP down, first game Ford left him hanging which also led to an INT, I don't care if CP took the blame himself it's what he's supposed to do but everyone knows who's to blame. Criner also dropped a critical first down play as well, second game DHB drops one in the endzone and then streater does the same thing. Then you have DMC doing a poor job of getting his feet down in bounds that would've set up a scoring play. Over these last two games had those passes been caught then everyone doesn't care about the 1 INT and we win those games. So in short everyone needs to stop acting like they have better alternative to a problem that really doesn't exist.

With pre season, it is very hard to judge how good or how not so good a team is. Problem for Raider fans is the fact we have seen such poor performances over the past 8 years. There has been so much turnover at coaching and other positions, one would hope the coming season would be different. The reality was, more of the same. Bad performances.
You listen to players and coaches and the talk is always so positive, one could not help but get excited. Enough is enough. Do your talking on the field. That's what has disappointed me so far. Sure, I know, it is only pre season and having been a Raider fan since 1967, I have seen my share of games. How good is this team or how bad is this team may be more appropriate? We really don't know.
If there is anything to gauge from this pre season is there is still much work to be done. So far, it appears Carson Palmer is uncomfortable or not yet comfortable in Knapp's offense. That dosn't mean things won't be different once the real season starts. It is better to gauge a team with it's #1 players on offense and defense in with a real game plan in place. Still, the offense did not look good and last year they played much better.
Since this is Knapp's second go round, the bar is higher. There is an old saying, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Some will argue, make it better. Well, so far, the offense is not better. The defense on the other hand does appear to be markedly improved. Still, it's pre season and there are valid concerns at many positions, linebacker and corner are glaring. However, they look much better as ball hawkers and not making stops. Again, it's pre season.
Special teams has left much to be desired. My goodness, have we left anything out? Bad offense, bad ST and concerns on defense do not bode well for the season or give much room for hope.
Still, I will reserve my judgement for the real season. Once it's live, there are no excuses. Injuries, this, that, whatever. You either can do it or you can't. So far, if you are not concerned, you are not or have not been watching or paying attention.
I have yet to see anything from this team to give me any real hope. However, I am a Raider fan and will hang on to that one thread. If, if and if we can do this that and the other, it could be fun.
BTW, Terrell Pryor is a bum. The threads on the anticipated appearance are silly at best. Guy is a 3rd string marginal quarterback for crying out loud. Root for the guys ahead of him. That's whose going to lead the team for better or worse and not TP.
He's an NFL-caliber quarterback ... no better - no worse.
I know what we got with Carson, and I can live - or die with it.

All these people that are saying our offense looked better last year, look at the preseason record last year we didn't score any more then we are now. Our o looked good in the regular season (after week one, we won that denver game based on Kyle Orton being a bum) but before that they struggled to get a rythem. Reserve your judgement on knapp until about week 5. If we are still struggling by then then you know there is an issue. Until then be patient.
Dude get over it! JC is in Chicago on the bench and CP is just as good as the second tier QB's in the league. Our receivers catch those drops in these past two games then knapps offense puts up points do stop whining about what you think is going to happen!!
I was so confused, I stopped reading.

I guess my expectations for this team differ from many here. When R.M took over I expected an overhaul. This team is a work in progress people. I urged patience when Cable was coaching, when Jackson was the head coach. and I am doing it again. This is not R.M's final product. The team had salary cap issues, money issues, and draft pick issues. This is not rectified over night. I seen this as a three to four year plan. Now I am not trying to be a debbie downer. I want the team to succeed and they might very well get in a groove this year. but it's not something I expect to happen.
Now concerning Palmer. he is a gunslinger, he will be feast and famine. I do not see anyone on the roster who is better than him, nor do I see any QB's currently on the market better than him. So he is the best we have. and his success like most QB's will depend on the success of the team. I personally felt like offensively the personnel was more suited to Jackson's style of offense, rather than Knapp's but that is all water under the bridge now. Knapp is our Offensive coordinator . Allen is our head coach. and Palmer is our starting QB. So We should try and be supportive. Campbell is gone, Gradkowski is gone. Jamarcus Russell is gone (Thank the heavens) we are left with who we have. Only God knows who will be on the roster in 3 years. but I am willing to be patient yet again, because I feel as if we are on the right track, from an organizational standpoint. Also I cannot believe so many people are fired up about two meaningless pre-season games... I am more concerned about the injuries than those losses or the manner in which the Raiders lost the game. The problem is that it is preseason - televised training camp with two teams!
As someone else put it... "Carson Palmer is a poor man's Brett Favre". He may not be "the" problem but his decision making is A big problem and always has been. It was the knock on him before he even became a Raider so why do people here act as if he's beyond reproach as the trend continues. I sarcastically jabbed at Run DMC in the game thread yesterday and I'll be damned if it didn't come to fruition. I remember Campbell got killed for leading his wide open receivers out of bounds last year.

on the flipside you have to somewhat care about the preseason, when we are on the damn near 1 yard line twice and fail to score thats not a good look. when special teams is looking atrocious and giving up 30-40 yard carries that's not a good look. when you are constantly losing its not good either you want guys to build some confidence going into the season.
He does seem to be pushing the ball though.
