My 7 year old came to me during my visitation with him and said "Dad I dont like my middle name." of course i go into why and how cool his middle name is and even show him clips of Rich Gannon...
He confided in me that in Iowa the kids made fun of him and pushed him around...and it spawned from him being named after a Raider player...
It really upset me and of course i wanted to get a can of pepper spray and go to his school and unleash my anger on those kids..
however ..
it actually turned into a moment where i was able to show him with his understanding..the greatness of the Raiders..and the Raider Nation..
He is now back there and I am looking forward to hearing back his story of triumph in the school yard..

idk op this story seems kinda sketch. I HIGHLY doubt 7 year old kids could make the connection his middle name is after a former raider QB.

Bullying should never be taken lightly. I would speak with the boy's teacher and, if necessary, the school principal. Some may dismiss it as boys being boys. I say BS. Bullying can escalate and other kids can be drawn into it as peers believe it appropriate to do so because the other child is perceived as different.
The bullied child will become withdrawn, scared with feelings of not being wanted or loved. Self esteem will become affected and the child can develop emotional problems. Nonsense you say? There just children. Wrong!
The schools responsibility is to ensure the safety and well being of children. Bullies must be stopped. The sooner the better.

Gannons playing days were over before these seven year old were even born. Two years past kindergarten and these kids in Iowa know who Rich Gannon is and have concerned themselves with each others middle names? If the story has any truth they might have made fun of the name Gannon, being uncommon, but I dont believe for a minute they have a f&^%ing clue who Rich Gannon is or even know or give a **** about the Oakland Raiders.
when people call my sons name somtimes they call him by his first and middle..Parker Gannon..they put it together..

my son knew where his name came from..and when they asked where it came from ..he told them...hence how they knew about it...
really taking this bullying thing pretty serious..
he was in tears as he was telling me this...so if you think its sketchy or whatever..i dont give a ****..hes my child..and ill do what ive got to do..
just shared because i figure maybe some DADs on here could relate..
